Im currently building a vacation home and i need to know how tall the x-star is with the tower folded down. My boat is in storage 300 miles from me so i cant get to it. My contractor is getting ready to start on the garage and needs to know if i need a 8' or 10' door.

thanks

you won't regret the 10' door.

10' no questions asked, you will never have a problem with a door being to tall.

I have a 12' door for my 230VRS, never fold the tower!

Is the garage attached or seperate? There are lots of garage plans out there that could allow for a 12' door.

My 06 X star just sneaks under the 8' door. I measured 94" to clear everything. If you don't want to fold the tower you need 11' .

thanks for all the info. The garage is attached. The 10' door would change the roof line. It can be done, but the cost is quite a bit more. He told me today that a 9 foot door would fit with out any changes. I think that is what im going for.

well we ended not building a new house and purchased the one model they had built with a 3 car garage. the two car has 9' doors and is 24' deep. the single door has a 12' door and is 45' deep. This is perfect, i wont even have to lower the tower and can back the whole rig into the garage at the end of the day.

Being able to park the whole rig would be great!!

looks like a great setup with the place you bought, you will enjoy not having to fold it down and messing with the threads ...congrats

Hate to bring this thread back up, but does anyone know the height of an '08 X-Star with the tower folded down? Thanks!

Buddude, You're gonna love not folding the tower down! I don't even cover my boat most of the time, sometimes use just a blue tarp to keep the dust off (easier, faster than the MC boat cover)

Skeeler, going out to check without actually folding the tower though. Be right back.

Thanks!! Pulling the boat home tomorrow to do some stereo work on it for the next few days and wanted to know what I was getting into.

Skeeler, I didn't fold my tower down, but it looks like 86 inches overall height (85 might work but it would be close.)

What height is your door?

Thanks! That is what I figured, about the same as the '07 X-2. I have about 85". Tight fit, but it will work. Going to have to let it ride on the rim into the garage. :D Thanks again.

Keep the fuel tank full and maybe even some ballast if you don't trailer too far from home.

Or you could always put about 10 lovely ladies in there to gain some clearance! :D
