Cool Mag. Going to be a brown Christmas here in upstate NY around the Albany area. Temp was 4 below two days ago and today we are getting rain with the high about 48F. Usually by now we have had a foot or so of snow. Lake froze up though, about 3 inches of ice. And you know what that means. We're that much close to the ice melting which means SPRING and my new boat.

Have a Merry and safe Christmas to you all and your families and be safe.

Gene

I have 20" inches at my house as of this morning!! Being from Colorado it's strange here, the whole city of Cincy is practically shut down. I can count the number of snow days I got while I was in school as a kid in Colorado on 1 hand.

Our local ski area, 10 minutes from my house!! It ain't Colorado vertical, but hey, I can still get my thrills, just in shorter durations. I know where I am going when they lift this crazy Level 3 thing!!

They even have Double Black Diamonds! With a vertical drop of 400' it's better be a cliff to rate double black...

But who am I to talk? We have no snow. In fact it's 50 degrees out right now and I'm going to take advantage of the weather to wash the cars. No white Christmas for us.

Make a few turns for me.

BriEOD

So Mark, do you prefer snow of water skiing?

MarkP
12-23-2004, 11:51 PM
I get to Snow ski fewer times a year but was always a little better at it and I think until I bought the Mastercraft snow was my favorite. Now, hands down, its water-skiing.

Do you get out on snow?

BriEOD
12-23-2004, 11:54 PM
You know I can honsetly say I have never been snow. I've always been in warm climates. I've been to Alaska but it was in July. I've seen snow about 5x's. I was 19, and in Korea the first time I saw it.

MarkP
12-24-2004, 12:03 AM
Skiing is one of the few things you can do with snow. Iím used to and donít mind the change of season or the cold. I like hot temps too but we saw little of that this past summer.

Iím sure if I had to I could get used to a tropical climate.

Well Mag Red and I had a good old time on the 24th! I must say for a Midwest ski area I was really impressed. True the Double Diamonds are like Blue runs but for having 5 lifts and 23 runs, all open, not bad!! I think a weekly 10 minute drive from home to Perfect North might help take the edge off of watching my boat sit in agony and waiting to be used. :(
It was great meeting you Mag, had a great time, we'll have to meet up again sometime!!

I really like Perfect North. We are going Monday and Tuesday, 26th and 27th. Anyone else going to be there? Jeff, Mag?

With 30 inches of snow dumped in that area last conditions should be good. How was the snow?

The snow was superb! You should have fun! I have to work on Mon and Tues but if you plan on night skiing shoot me an email, I might be able to swing that, jdrandol@hotmail.com

Now it is just day skiing, but will see. Will be all of us, at ~$40/day per its money shredding right up there with the MC! I'm trying to decide if I want to work on my snowboarding or ski. I'm comfortable skiing, but still learning boarding. Went 3 nights after work near Tahoe in November and they had great snow also.

Yeah, it was a white Christmas....the sand at the beach was white as snow!! I spent the weekend with my parents who live on the Gulf coast of Florida near Tampa. I hope to ski a set later this week when it warms up a bit. It is a frigid 60 degrees!!

Fitz you should take the boat out!!

I gave the fiance a new slalom ski for Christmas and she was so excited I almost thought she would go. I would have unwinterized the boat for that!

But the snow gods decided to be kind and left us with 12" last night. Shoveling is a good workout!

Paul, what resort do you work at? Mt Rose? I couldn't place the lodge. My folks are in Incline Village and I'll be out there in 2 weeks or so. Looks like there will be plenty of snow. Woohoo!

Where do you normally water ski?
