I'm looking for a reputable dealer to do some work to my boat. Not sure who to use any good suggestions? Would like a depth finder, tower, and a few other things. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Well, you could come down to Chicago MasterCraft or Summerset Marine.

I live in Menomonee Falls, do you work on boats for a living or just on the side?

You'll be hard pressed to find anyone else who frequents this site that knows more technical stuff on MC boats than JimN. He is the resident encyclopedia for MC boats!!

I worked for Competition Sports until they had their management meltdown. Then, I worked for Munson Ski in Elkhorn. I was also a moderator here for over two years. I'm not working on boats much now but do occasionally.

If you don't mind the drive I would also recommend taking it to Redline in Madison, 608-838-0838. In my opinion they are the best of the three dealerships that I have dealt with in the state. I am not sure how Summerset is now, since they had a lot of changes in personnel over the past year and a half. The other one that I worked with was Competition Sports and they are no longer in business, not surprisingly.

JimN Why don't you start your own boat repair facility? You always did good work on mine when you worked for competition.

I had no idea that Jim worked at competition. No offence but i am not surprised that they aren't in business. I know we had quite a few problems there. But Summer Set is a good place to go. Get a hold of Brian Huels there.

Yeah, things were going great until one of the owners decided that he needed to be the biggest turd in the punchbowl. I should probably stop writing about it now. I took a lot of pride in the fact that I had almost no comebacks (reworks). OTOH, the BT used to complain during winterizing season about how much oil we were using. Huh? I kinda though that for every oil change, we were making money. Hmmm.

Thanks, Greg.

Jim,

Would you be interested in doing some work for me in the next few months or perhaps spring time? If so how would I go about getting in touch with you?

Why not tow it down to Volo, IL if you don't want to go to Summerset?

Chicago MasterCraft isn't that far from Milwaukee. :)

It looks like you only have two options at this point, Summerset of Redline. I would take it to Redline based on my experiences. For the 1 hr and 15 minute drive it is worth it.

I was looking at your original post and it says you are looking to add a tower and a depth finder. If you are ordering the tower yourself you can contact Charlie at Fountain of Youth for Boats in North Praire to do the install. They are a boat repair shop that does just about everything except engine work.

What year and model boat do you have? What else did you want to do besides the tower and the depth finder.

SummerSet is going to be an up and coming dealer...give them a shot if you want!

Sad to hear this and the previous post Jim. Hope you end up at a new MC dealer soon.
