I need about 1 sq. yd. of factory carpet to cover around my subs on the driver's side kick panel. I called my dealer and they can't help me, anyone have a suggestion besides trying to match up some off the shelf somewhere?

You could use the gray carpet covering that is used on subwoofer enclosures. I'm sure a stereo shop may be able to get close to your color.

Good Luck

We have carpet from a 2006 X-1...might not be a perfect match, but it would be close. The problem would be that your carpet is faded, and this is new:cool:

Let me know if your interested, we won't be replacing the carpet from the x-1 until mid dec. so it will be a few weeks.

Your dealer was right, MC does not have any more of your original carpet. You can use the later carpet like Eric says, but it will be heavier and a slight bit darker, yet if it's out of the way in a less visible area it may not be that noticable. jcrosby has a point about stereo shops.

Go to a car stereo shop and ask if they have any scraps of trunk liner or the carpet they use for their boxes. What color do you want? The trunk liner is a lot easier than the stuff MC puts down because it has no backing.

Could you try to weather the carpet in a window sill?

I just got done building a sub box and ran into the same problem with matching the carpet on my '02 X30. I finally went to a local marine upholstery (spelling??) shop and they ordered me a roll that was 3' by 5'. I think it cost $30 total. It matches 95% perfect.

Simple enough, if you ask me.

thanks for the help guys. i think i'm going to cut out a little sample from the under console storage area, where there is some carpet hanging down, then take it to a stereo shop or an uphulstery shop and try to match something close.

That is a really good idea... something close to match the dash.

I like that too... Or the black carpet idea if you can't find a match... the black would "hide"/ camofauge the speakers.

it has some crappy vinyl on it that is staining badly around the subs. black carpet is an option if i can't find some carpet.

I got carpet from Lowe's that was real close. It's outdoor carpet and was very easy to work with.
