When I was skiing at Sea World in San Diego, I sold my car and bought a little Honda Nighthawk 450 to ride around PB. I miss it and my wife is scared to death that I will take a big commission check and buy a sweet Harley or Truimph. She should be scared!

Triumph! Nice one! The Nighthawk S was cool and they are almost like flat track bikes. So if you could what would you buy? Heritage, Night Train, Fat Boy, deuce or what have you? VALK all the way for me but if you want a twin she ain't gonna do!

When I was a kid, my dad used to take my flat tracking. I loved it! I raced from about 6-12 years old and hardly any of my friends know it. I miss riding!

OK, so two of the bikes I've owned in the past have shown up in this thread. Hoosier Bob brings up the Nighthawk S (great bike; put 80,000 miles on mine on two different engines), then H2Oskeefreek posts a picture of the KZ440 I used to own (except, of course, mine was red). Another great bike; a bit buzzy and I hated replacing chains, but it lasted me for 40,000 miles.

I ride an ST1100 now. Given a choice, I'd dearly love to get my hands on a Yamaha GTS1000. Never seen one in person, never talked to anyone who had one, but the technology has fascinated me since I first read about it.

I would like to have a Yamaha RD400 again tricked out for road racing. But I would need a track to run on because I'm not riding like that on the road anymore!

Incredible bike where you can twist the throttle at 40-60 and ride a wheelie!

My bikes have included the following:

82 Yamaha Maxim 650
83 Honda Shadow 700
81 Yamaha Seca 750
84 Yamaha RZ350 (Most fun bike I ever owned)
86 Kawasaki Ninja 600
86 Yamaha FZ750 (coolest bike I ever owned)
94 Honda VFR (modified to perfection)
99 Honda 600F4 (track day conversion) (RIP)

I now ride an CRF230 dirt bike, but if I were looking for a street bike today I'd either buy a Honda CBR1000RR, a Ducati S4R or a Honda VFR800; would all depend on what kinda mood I was in.

'03 Heritage Classic. Windshield, pillion, sissy bar and luggage rack are quick-detachable.

This Suzuki thumper (DR650SE) is a great dual-sport compromise bike, but is designed 80/20 road vs. dirt. I changed the suspension, tires, forks, gearing, as well as rebuilding the carb and replacing the pipe, makes it 80/20 dirt vs road.

Hoosier Bob....Here is a Hoosier tribute to you and this thread. I just bought an '80 Honda CB750 Custom this fall. Great little bike for few $$$, and fun to ride. Below is a picture I took at "Joe's Place" in Fishers, IN (north side of Indy) this past July (Thursday nights...biker night). I told a young lady that I was field photographer for a Chopper Magazine, and we were doing a local shoot, and asked if she would like to participate. She did so gladly. Apparently had some modelling experience!! This is my friends bike. I tried to pick a picture that showed the best angle so you could appreciate the flame job paint scheme.

HB....Thanks for the compliment on the angle. Keep in mind, I am a highly trained professional:D .

If the RZ350 triple is a Kaw, I came across a brown/yellow one for sale this summer. Not sure of the exact model, but it was a '74ish triple, two cycle Kaw. Neat bike!

I am originally from Fishers, but live in Chicago now. Get back occasionally for Holidays, family gatherings, etc. Grew up near Conner Prairie on Allisonville. If I were down there, would love to ride with you.

You work in a Morgue? Loud is not my thing either but I think California riders live a little faster. Lane splits at 60+ and while I was there I did see some bad accidents. That being said no worse than anything extreme these days. I would see 10 responsible 2 wheelers for every idiot. I did not notice a much better ratio for the four wheelers. Only difference was in CA there were a ton more. Anyway what is a chill and how do you get it?:o motocycles are not my thing... i bought one on a whim and rode it for about 100 miles. sat in the garage for about 4 years before i sold it..

ZX12, ZX14, GSXR1300 (BOOSA), M0st bikes today I believe will cut off at 175 or so but not hard to fix that. There are numerous streetbikes (heavily modified) around here that will go over 200 but not with me on them! 0-100 and back is fun enough!

My 700 lbs Valkyrie has a top speed around 140MPH! So take off 350 lbs and add 100 HP and my guess is you are there!

Top Ten Reasons Why Gold Wing Riders Don't Wave Back

10. Wasn't sure whether other rider was waving or making an obscene gesture.

9. Afraid might get frostbite if hand is removed from heated grip.

8. Has arthritis and the past 400 miles have made it difficult to raise arm.

7. Reflection from etched windshield momentarily blinded him.

6. The espresso machine just finished.

5. Was actually asleep when other rider waved.

4. Was in a three-way conference call with stockbroker and
accessories dealer.

3. Was distracted by odd shaped blip on radar screen.

2. Was simultaneously adjusting the air suspension, seat height, programmable CD player, seat temperature and satellite navigation system.

1. Couldn't find the "auto wave back" button on dashboard.

Assuming you mean VF1000R, good ones just don't exist anymore. I looked for one for years back in the 90s and there were just no good ones left. That thing was a pig anyway.

The bike I would pay top $ for would be an absolutely mint condition mid 80s Interceptor 500, but those don't exist either. Sport bike riders tend to actually ride their bikes.

They do exist. I have ridden a VF 700 F and a VF 500 F in the last year. The VF (I'm sorry) 1000r is much more rare. It was not a pig as you suugest IMO. If you have ever dragged a knee as I did twenty some years ago you might agree. If you have twisted the throttle full while heading up an up hill double jump on a dirt bike you might also understand. There are lots of these bikes aroud, you just have to take off the blinders to see them. I owned a VF500F as an 18 year old. My hard on still exists for that bike, it was so flickable....;) Steve

I've spent my entire life (since I was 5) on bikes including 7 years dragging my knee around Sears Point and Laguna Seca at countless trackdays, and I've ridden all the Honda VF's, from the original Interceptor 500/750s and the the 1000R. By pig, I meant heavy, not slow. It was tall and heavy, especially compared to the sportbikes that quickly followed. By today's standards the VF1000R would be Rosie ODonnell fat.

By 'good ones', I meant low mileage and/or excellent condition bikes. VF1000Rs were generally thrashed and it is almost impossible to find one in great condition. I still keep my eye out for any of the old VFs for sale, hoping to one day stumble upon a pristine stored bike and I never see one. There are tons of crap condition ones out there. The only cool old Hondas that still turn up once and a while in showroom condition are the Nighthawk S's, which are a fun little bike as well. My brother had a red and black one when we were in college and I've always wanted one of those.

Don't be too quick to judge. If the race is in a straight line :) with a 107" developing about 120hp at the rear wheel, a 6 speed baker in which #6 just kicks in around 85mp....this bad boy may surprise you. My big problem is the added weight I seem to pick up from chicks always wanting to wrap themselves around me where ever I go.

We went to 100 and down but on the way down it started pouring. We dumped her at the entrance to Muirfield Village in Columbus Ohio. We slid rolled and slid. The bike was still spinning around when we got to it. I was laughing, My brother was bleeding and screaming shut up that's $3,500 sitting on the pavement! I wasn't driving so don't look at me!

What ws the first year of the GW? I think they were all naked and options were added. Honda then copied the bikes that were being made. I could be wrong. I think you are close but I thought the Goldwing 1100 appeared in the end of 79 or 80? I will check! GS1150 Oh Yea! Think of the rides in those mid 80's, Intercepter, V-Max, GS and the Magna V65(which I believe started it all). V-Max is tough to not have in your collection!

Yes, but as a ZX-14, rather than by its Busa name. My brother had one of dem rocket ships for a short time. Had a little run in with the law man in West Texas on it and had to sell it for attorney fees.

Hoosier Bob

Busa is a 1300 correct? 1400 is a ZX and I believe skuzi (Suzuki) had a 1400 Intruder? Rick S. supposedly tyhe guy that designed the rocket also had a ton of input on the Valkyrie I ride. There are a bunch of similarities that can be seen. Another great ride though! MYMC all two wheelers brother!

Why no Kawasaki KZ1300???

CBX Six Cylinder, KZ1300 Six Cylinder and Valkyrie Six Cylinder. If you have little dough you can make them scream.

On your CRF where did you get the skid plate? (I like)
Let me know how you like the seal savers
ASV Lever? Just for bling or do you really think they're worth it?
The radiator guards Works Connection?
W.C. Front Brake cap too?
What are you plans for the exhaust?
Black Excel Wheels with Red Hubs would look really nice too:D
How many beers did it take to put on the graphics kit?:D

Edit: And why is that wrench laying on the floor?

The Skid and Guards are DEVOL. Nice stuff and fit is awesome. Trees everwhere on the farm and with that mucho destructo! Brake res covers are cooling Outlaw brand. Probably Outlaw because appears to be copied WC but I like them better for less $$. The wrench is something I use to straighten sheet metal, brake pedals/shifters but in that instance it was used to reconnect the clutch cable. Adjust to fit the width of the actuater and no damage to the clutch actuater arm. It's an Adjustable Clutch Actuater tool!:D The levers? We shall see but last two trips to the farm have meant two less levers! The KTM lever I believe is still in my stomach!:o The best and nicest piece so far is the Hammerhead chain guard! Hides wires and fits like a glove. Check out their stuff, very nice. SHIFT TIP.COM

PS I thought you asked what the wrench was as I only use the "Crescent Wrench" as a last resort!Bob,

OK, I was bored again and since the boat was back together, somewhat, I decided to find a new project. Of course being Hoosier I bid on a KX100 for the kids. A 2006 like new that I had checked out a couple of days earlier. No way my bid would win! Confident that I had not bid enough another opportunity arose. 2004 CR 85 RB/Expert. Talked the guy down but overall a very "clean" bike. As I was loading the bike the owner says that the son has wanted to ride ever since he got it "cleaned up!" Where do you guys ride? DOWN BY THE RIVER! S O A B! Bike is clean but I pull down to the frame anyway. Sure enough pressure washed to the max! Cut bearings off stearing head and swingarm no better! Anyway she is looking good and the motor is great. Once all is done she will be a screamer. Which brings me to the bid I would not win. Won! $3,500 later (both bikes) I now have a garage full. Oh well time to ride and spend another $500-800 making them both scream!:o
