What kind of top speed do these boats have?

2000-2001 with the 330 HP LTR engine
2003 with the MCX engine

There was a listing about one for sale that said top speed 55!
Can this be true? Seems a bit fast to me.

Someone that owns one, please give me the truth.

Thanks.

The truth is before ye.

I have a 2001 with LTR 330HP. I hit 44-45 on my perfect pass. I think it is pretty accurate but have not calibrated it to GPS.

It would be serious modification to go 55MPH they will not come close to that stock. Ask him what he did to get that speed. I don't think there is a prop that would do that either.

55 MPH on the trailer perhaps :twocents:

I thought 55 was a very high number. I never talked to the dealer listing the boat, I just saw the ad on boattrader.

Leroy, are you satisfied with the pulling power of yours?
How's the ride in the rough?
Small enough wake for slalom?

I'm still thinking about buying one. Thanks for your input.

njskier,

I have an LQ9 in my 230. It tops out at around 48-49. I'm a novice slalom skier. I learned years ago, but last summer was the first time skiing in about 20 years. Almost like riding a bike though. The wake is not bad, but I like to ski at around 38-40 mph. And I usually skiied with a boatload of teenagers, which added a lot of ballast. Nevertheless, the 230's have plenty of torque to get you out of the water (even at my size  :toast: )

My 1994 Maristar 225, at least the best I can tell, will hit around 47-48 at wot.. Just a simple TBI engine in mine....

I just sold a 1998 200vrs maristar with a modfied LT1. the boat ran 49 mph before mods, removed muffler, port and polished heads, new software fuel maps. Boat ran around 52 mph and got there much quiker. I have a 2004 X10 now with a MCX it runs 45 mph. The speeds were taken using perfect pass calibrated by the same GPS.

Dave;

THe pulling power is fine, I use only a fraction of the power normally.
The ride is good and much better than any of the "ski" boats.

The wake is pretty good for me at 30-32 and very good for wakeboarding at 18-22 even without ballast. Pix attached at 36 MPH.

Leroy,

Thanks for the pic and reply. That wake looks pretty good at 36. I ski between 32-34 depending on water condition. Also barefoot at 36.

I'm mostly buying this boat for my son (11) to ski behind, hoping he will learn to wakeboard too. Should I go with a 230 with a tower or just hold out for an X-30? I think the X will hold its value more.
(I like to wakeboard too) :D
