Congrats!!!!!!

I guess the new lake front house is out for now?

Yeah its out.......it was a REALLY tough decision as lakefront is a major goal of mine. However, given I am 27 and climbing the ladder very quick, passing up this opportunity would have been a bad move for me long term. So.....I might have to put off lakefront a little longer, who knows, a weekend houseboat on Lanier might be in our future. :D

Congrats, I happy for you.
Atlanta's probably much warmer, than where your liv'n presently.

Too you and anyone else that wants it (Atlanta) can have it.
I lived there 12 yrs plus, (hence atlfootr) on Lake Lanier and honestly can say I DON'T miss it.
I've really become spoiled since mov'n here to Winter Haven, Fla aka "The Barefoot Capital Of The World."

Many of my 'ole friends still foot there, let me know if you need a pull -- the least I can do is provide you w/ a lake map
(which is a certain must) if you plan to navigate on the waters of Lake Lanier.

Old VP, my new VP, and I meet on Monday to discuss the transition. So thats unknown just yet but I'd venture to say 2-3 weeks. I'll commute every week until the house is sold, then we'll move on down. My guess is it will take a while to sell our house, probably 4 months. I bet after 2 months of commuting to Atlanta every week and we'll say the hell with it and us buy a place down there before our current house is sold.

I enjoyed Hot'Lanta when I went down with a college buddy who grew up around there ... with the culture change you may want a good local tour guide to explain the do's and dont's of the South... for those of you who grew up single in Atlanta or live there now and are in your 20's and 30's ... man, the clubs down there are sweet!!!!!!!! The Bouncers/Door Guys do a great job of filling the clubs up with 9's and 10's ... all I know is I have a permanent aversion to 151 after Atlanta, I so much as smell the stuff I get sick.

It is a bad time, however, no need to take it on the chin, put that in the move package in the form of xx thousand for cost of living difference.

It's a long story but the short of it was we DID sell the boat to buy our dream lakehouse. One day before we were going to make the offer on the lakehouse I got a call from my company asking me to interview for this position. That kinda put the offer on hold until I at least explored this position. Long story short, 2 weeks later the offer is in my hands and I couldn't turn it down. It's been a whirlwind couple of weeks!

There will be relocation $$ alloted. However, like many companies now a days the relocation packages are less meaty than they use to be. My relo package won't include using a relo company that picks up the tab on my current house.

FYI one of my buddies has a house for sale in Decatur.. reasonably so.... A 5 yr old 300k+ home very nice house.. Decent neighborhood.. Don't know if that's where you want to be... Judging from his experiences and my one biggie.. I'd have to move a couple counties over... Or take Mike's advice and commute from Charlotte..

Time before last I visited, we're hangin out on the back porch middle of the day, hear bang bang, run to front see an older Taurus speeding off and a guy walking up the street with a (what we thought was a) red shirt. Ten minutes later buddys street was covered with police cars.. 2 or 3 Helicoptors.. long story short... DRIVE BY.. we watched the whole detective proceedure (after answering questions) basically we saw enough to know how lucky we got.. The victim was walking down the other side of the street... Was shot by the people in the car we saw (our assumption: they wrote it down)...... at very close range... We just sat there that night wondering what would have happened had we been on the front porch or the victim been on our side of the street.. Buddys wife was at home too working on the computer right beside the outside wall closest to the street... anyway just thought I'd give you a heads up

Dang!!!!! Not the best sales pitch to help sell his house!! 8p

All kidding aside, we are going to stay within Gwinnet County. Our HQ is in Lawrenceville and I'd like to stay within 30 minutes rush hour drive time of the office. (30 minutes rush hour drive time= 5 miles in some cases. )

Nah its not, I hope he sells his house, but I'd hate for anybody I "know" to be in that situation.... It was pretty unnerving....

NCI is far enough north that Lake Lanier is definitely within 30 minutes. I-985 is usually a speed-limit ride (70 mph) morning and evening. I-85 will slow at the I-985 interchange and can get ugly around and south of 316. Since NCI is close to the 316 interchange you will want to find a couple secondary roads to use as alternates around the office. Traffic flow is N to S and E to W in the mornings; S to N and W to E in the evening. On average it's about 30 minutes from just north of Gainesville to Sugarloaf Pkwy and visa-versa.

Congratulations and welcome to Atlanta!
