Does anyone know what oil filter is needed for a 330HP LTR1 2001, maristar 230VRS? I took off a PF454 which is what the GM dealer gave me last year.
Thanks

Double check the specs on that oil filter. For my 2001 Maristar 230 LTR I use the Mobil 1 M1-111. That should be the direct replacement for the: Pennzoil PZ3 Oil Filter for 5.7 Liter Carbureted and
EFI Engines

Thanks smitty and trickskier, the local Chevy dealer picked this one out for me, but I was not comfortable when he did it, but it fit.
Winterization :(
Did you get a new boat smitty?

PF454 is a good filter. A Wix 51069 or NAPA Gold 1069 (same filter) should also fit fine in place of a PZ-3, which is not such a good filter.

THe Fram PH30 should fit the 5.7L as well. I have the same motor in my 2001 Maristar 210VRS.

Regarding Fram oil filters, look at this site (http://minimopar.knizefamily.net/oilfilterstudy.html#fram), as well as here (filters to avoid) (http://minimopar.knizefamily.net/oilfilters.html#avoid), and here (http://minimopar.knizefamily.net/oilfilter-fram1.txt)for a letter by a Fram engineer.

The M1 111 is a half filter. The M1 302 is a full lenght filter. I prefer to run the full length filter. I talked to Indmar before using the M1 302 and they said they went to the half filter because some engine compartments did not have enough clearance to use a full length filter. So if you have the clearance the M1 302 is OK to use.

I should be able to use:
PF454
Wix 51069
NAPA Gold 1069
PZ-3
M1 111 is a half filter. The M1 302 is the full filter
Fram PH30

I would not use the PZ3 or Fram filters. They are not high quality.
"but I was not comfortable when he did it, but it fit"
Leroy- Why wouldn't a Chevy dealer be able to get you the right filter?

That was my thought, but he knew nothing of indmar, mastercraft, etc and took him an hour and walking around asking people before he said try this! THis was a big dealer here in Indianapolis. I'm going to the auto parts store this time.
That's about 50 minutes longer than I would have stayed. Did you tell him that it's a 5.7L GM motor with the stock filter location?

I'm kinda partial to the Napa Gold 1060 - it's the full-height equivalent of the 1069. I've got plenty of room in my boat, and mo' filter is mo' better.
