Nothing will ever replace those old wooden boats, even a MasterCraft!
That's what I learned to ski behind in 1956, DD 248 CI Ford Flathead w/2 2bbl Strombergs. The WaterSki Museum has a VHS tape from a old 8mm movie taken of our boat and skiing in 1958 on the Catawba River in Western Foothills of NC.

Yea, during the '60's and early '70's my grandfather had a woody Christ Craft on Grand Lake, OK..... That thing was so great. I cannot remember the exact motor but it was bad. it would rock... The neighbor got it when my grandfather died in the early '70s - I hope it's still alive..somewhere..... :)

The boss has a 54 correct craft he is having changed to a dual cockpit as we speak. I could have owned it for 5k before the resto/ mod began. Even then it looked like he had stored it in the living room... Not my thing, but they are nice looking boats!!

I believe that the boat in the first pic is a new Gar Wood. They are still made, and are still gorgeous! I'm not sure about the second one...

I've got TONS of pictures of these boats from Tahoe over the years.

Nothing rivals the sound of these boats moving across the water. Like seeing a classic muscle car going down the road...

This was my parents boat. They sold it last year. 1930 model 101 Chris Craft. Re-powered with a chevy 283.

I shared my dock with a woodie at one time and loved that boat. Its owner got tired of the maintaince of the hull and traded in in on brand C. I wish I had the cash back then to buy the boat, it would be nice to have now.

They are still made in Europe.
