Keel Chips.....not Lay's!

how do I fix it?
should I fix it?

have it done at a glass shop?
body shop?

what about epoxying <--(is that a word???) a keel guard over this? I don't mean like a band-aid, but prepping the boo boo, then installing the keel guard.

Have a fiberglass shop do the repair if it is in an area that is highly visable. If it isn't highly visable get a DIY gel coat repair kit. Don't use a keel guard on an inboard ski boat they are ugly.

I thought they were ugly also, and realized they mostly help with beaching the boat.....not something I am in favor of :o


with the DIY kit, I'm probably going to have to test it in an inconspicious place too :uglyhamme

Get a local glass shop to do it. For something that small, it's not going to be as expensive as you think. I took a chunk out of my keel trailering once, got it fixed good as new for $100.

I'd suggest getting a small kit from Spectrum (www.spectrumcolor.com ) and doing the job yourself. A small repair like yours will not take much time and can easily be done at home in the garage.
