I have an employee that has really gone above and beyond the past few months working alot of extra hours etc..... He uses his IPOD quite a bit and was thinking a nice way to thank him would be to buy a gift certificate so he can download more music. Can you buy such a gift certificate in the store? How much does it cost per song to download?

few options, one is apple's itunes. which is 99 cents a song.

I personally get most of my music out of russia for approx. 20 cents a song. and they'll do gift certificates as well.

The apple itunes cards are pretty available, think you can get them at target, walmart, best buy, circuit city. etc.

albums are less expensive to get through i tunes than through a store.
not as cheap as through russia though, that exchange rate is pretty good.

Look here (http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wo/1.RSLID?mco=EADB7551&nclm=iTMSCardsCertificates)....if it's an incentive gift, I'd stick with the iTunes store rather than any of the other online music venues, unless you know that he has some other particularly favorite online source.

yea still don't understand why people like itunes more than say all of mp3

unprotected mp3 format, instead of protected acc, with max ipod transfers and burn restrictions.

Thanks BM and 88! I am pretty sure he gets his songs off Itunes. He's a graphic artist and a Apple guy so I'd bet that explains his love for the IPOD. :D
I am going to try Target and some other stores. I think having a gift card that I had to go buy will actually mean more than something I could buy online.

Appreciate it guys!

Appreciate it guys!I believe they actually send you a physical card, unless you specifically buy the downloaded version. I agree with you, though. If you can actually buy the thing at Target, I'd go that way myself.

JR,
Just bought a gift card for a person on a web team that helped me score tickets for a game when a customer was in town. She loved it. Great gesture.

Target will have them at the checkout aisle. 99 cents plus tax per song (works out to about $1.02 if memory serves). $20 goes a long way if the person has already gone through that initial download bender.

I have downloaded a few from Wal-Mart for 88 cents a song using a walmart gift card.

Nice way to use up the card without going into the store.

Jeff, Don't let Erk know you are shopping at Target. I could post the link to his thread if you need. I think it was "Target slurps" or something of that nature...

Mrs. bought a card for me at target. Great idea Jeff. Matter of fact my employer sent me a nano this year for appreciation. I had another time when they sent me a check for $100 and added a very nice letter of appreciation to my personal file. It means a lot when hard work is rewarded and you know that your upper management "really" appreciates you.
