View Full Version : Hull changes by year

I have an 88PS190. I am curious how long of a run that hull was made before it was changed. I can't remember the year MC had a major change in the PS hull (was it mid 90's?) and ended up with some issues requiring them to add the chine down the side at the factory. Also I ski occassionally behind an 81 SS and I've been curious if the hulls (81 and 88) are the same.

I may buy a newer PS and have lost track of the years and models that have the same hull, and years that I may want to avoid (if any).

Your expert input(s) are appreciated.

If I'm not mistaken the 86 had the same hull as the 87-90 but with the old ('85 and prior deck). It was kind of a transition year. Totally different graphics than any other year as well.

I know little to nothing about these years apart from what I've learned on here. 87 was the first year they called it "Pro Star 190," correct?

Yes '87 was the first Prostar but again I think the hull changed in '86. It was in '87 with the introduction of the radically new deck and interior that they called it the Prostar.

Now that you mention it, I think I remember reading that on here as well.

I love learning the facts like these, thanks. Could info like this be added to the faq's? For all I know it might already be there.
