View Full Version : Just curious. What would it take, to get this hull in the water?

I toyed with bidding on it, for the trailer value. Shipping cost and hassle, puts me out.

So, anybody looking for a winter project?

That is a V-Drive not a Direct drive.

I would have to ask why did they strip it out?

They even took off the exhaust flaps.

Salad bar anyone?

My guess is that it was stolen.

my question is "stripped by a pro", pro what? theft.

over all the boat hull and deck look in great condition.

I guess we should look for a set of 01 maristar 210 skins on the marketplace.

[This boat has been stripped by a pro of just about everthing , leaving minimal damage. The hull is in great condition, a perfect project for winter. The trailer has some minor damage including fiberglass fender damage.]

That would be a costly winter project. Pretty strange!!!

if all this stuff was stolen, why not the windshield?

That would be an awesome planter for a lakeside patio or the like. Maybe you could even fill it with water and make a pond out of it.

Other than the very obvious stuff, that would be a project of some magnitude. It's a salvage job, so maybe the boat sank, and stayed under long enough to scrap everything.

I second the vote for salad bar. Or maybe plug all the holes and make a nice swimming raft. Probably need to add a nice teak platform though.

OR if you have a buddy with a similar size boat and YOU have some time on your hands.... Seal er up tight, head down to the lake at night and swap his boat out for this one. Hide his behind your garage, and try to be at the lake when he walks down to the lift and finds a stripped MC sitting where his ride used to be. That would be priceless!

I'm sure there's enough talent on this board that we could make a nice wet bar for next years Mag Mania!

If I had room, I'd buy it just so my kids could play in it and they'd stay out of my X1!

Seriously odd though that they took everything, even the mount for the drain plug is gone. Would be interesting to know the history on the boat.

Plug all the holes, mount a small outboard, throw some bench seats in there and you've got the most unique party barge on the lake.

that would be a BIG project... Guys at the factory have an advantage installing all the cabling and components because the boat is still 2 pieces while they run all that stuff... Doing it now (looks like the boat sunk to me) would be a chore

Put an electric motor in it and use it to putt around on some of those neighborhood lakes around.

That would be funny.

If you buy it, do you think the windshield would fit my boat? I can't do dips on the one I have now (wasn't a feature in 93). http://www.australianopinion.com/forums/style_emoticons/default/flame.gif

Hey, I resemble that remark. But if it fit, and the price was right, I would replace my current windshield with a newer, more robust one.

I cannot imagine the cost of reassembling that boat. Even the small stuff would add up, exterior grills, rudder, bolts, all the rudder and throttle parts, ENGINE Vdrive trans, Exausts, thru hulls, SEATS!!- really expensive all custom, nothing to model off of.

I do like the idea of substitution onto a buddy's lift.

Or, drive up to your local MC dealer and attempt to trade it in on a new one. 0000 hours (hour meter missing) on engine (missing).

say you want nada value for it.... see what they say.

LOL, click on the ebay link again, and look at the sellers other items, he definately parts out boats.

Fill it with ice and use it as a tow behind beer cooler:D

Otherwise somehow turning it into a hot tub would be kinda sweet

I would guess he buys stuff at ins. auctions. That's probably a stolen recovered boat... he probably never did have all the parts. Unless you could find another "donor" boat similar you're talkin big $$$... I agree with others.... WET BAR:D :D :D

I wonder why the rub rail wasn't taken - maybe you can't get behind to remove. Also, if it was stolen - you would think the windshield would have been removed...

Regardless of the reason, the simple fact is, somebody decided it was worth more to part out the boat than to put back together. Given that, why would anyone try to put it back together at this point?

My guess is that it would cost money for this place to dispose of the hull, so they're just trying to get someone to solve that problem for them.

Would be a nice project if you could find similar boat with a damaged hull to swap everything from. Is that on 01 X-Star/205V hull? Trailer has to be worth $1-2k. Carpet appears clean, so doubt it was sunk for long…

I would look great in my yard:rolleyes:

I literally had this neighbor once that was a retired fella. an old glastron on a trailer showed up in his driveway one day.. I saw him wrenching for a week or so taking off controls, seats, windshield and motor.. a few days later he had tied the boat to a tree in the front yard and driven the trailer out from under it... He dragged the hull to the curb and expected the city's heavy trash to pick it up on wednesday...

I never talked to him during the whole thing. I just thought, YOU CLOWN...

Before the city could get it, a daycare owner tied a jeep to it and dragged the hull down the road to his daycare and buried it in the dirt so kids could climb around on it...

One man's trash...

I emailed the seller and asked for position 5 of the HIV so that we can know what model hull it is.

I agree. The whole thing looks too clean for sinkage. Carpets, rubber, etc. And if it was a quick sink, why not just just replace the motor and some electronics? Would be a better return than parting it out.

I wonder, if the innerds of my tristar, would fit?

The guy that did this could be reading along and he snapped his fingers and said "Dang I forgot the rub rail".

But how long would it have taken to remove all that? Must have had a real good hiding place!!!

My brother lost a boat that way. It was stolen from a dealer he had taken it to. They did one better they split the hull at the rub rail. It was some sort of scam the low riding theives were doing. reassembleing them and titleing them as salvage or homemade. These tramps got busted and skipped. My brother got 2 halves of a hull and nothing else. It was even more bare bones than the MC in the pic

He had no insurance:mad:

a dealer should buy it and put the boat on a stick outside their dealership.
