So Im not sure if theres a thread about this or not (if so feel free to delete).

This morning it rained for the first time in awhile and all I kept thinking about is there may be alot of people out there that may be getting there MC's soaked. So perhaps I can share my temporary resolution with others.

I found at costco a canopy that is 10'x20' with sides, front and back. Worked fine for my maxum (without tower) but when I bought the MC I was in a pickle for highth so I went to home depot bought some galvenized pipe (2"x10') and extended the legs so that I can get the mc in there. I do have to put the front back on so I can keep the front from getting wet and mabey some sides too. The canopy was I believe $169.00 from costco.

I know it kinda looks hoaky, but I think there will be 1-2 more days of sun here beefore I winterize and put her in the carport (folding the tower).

Total costs
Canopy $169.00
Pipe $65.00 (purchased 4 pipes @$13.?? plus some 1/4 bolts)
Heres some pics;

As long as the rain falls straight and not sideways you have done yourself a favor. Doesn't look too bad from here.

When I got the boat in the spring I bought one from Northern Tool and Equipment. Seemed to work great until one afternoon the wind came out of the "right" direction, lifted and snapped the poles took the canopy right over the 12' fence behind my office into the bar parking lot next door. Needless to say the MC is now parked in the garage at home and my new truck sits outside.:(

It does get wet on the bow area about 12" in (no wind last night). I can always put the front door back on. You can see it on the ground to the left.

I bought one of those and put it up in my driveway (which is where I have always kept the boat) only to receive a letter in the mail from the city telling me that if I didn't take it down they would fine me $1800.00.

:mad:

That totally stinks because it was working great for protecting the boat.

Guess we don't have as much "freedom" in America as I thought.

This was not in violation of any neighborhood CC&R, this was some obscure city ordinance.

Guess they are trying to generate revenue for the city any way they can.

I was about to say that I bet my neighbors would not appreciate that thing. It looks like a GREAT temp solution, but I don't live in a rural area.

Two winters (2004) ago, I bought a 10' x 25' similar canopy from GI Joes in Lynnwood, WA. I think it was $269. It has the sides, a back and front cover and protects the entire length, including swim step, of my X30. The only problem was that it sweats meaning it builds up condensation on the inside of the roof panels and dripped onto the cover. If left to buildup over a few weeks, you end up with a large puddle of water in the cover. Then mold builds up on the interior because there is no air movement in the enclosure. Needless to say, I will not be storing my boat in it this winter. It is either going to stay on the lift in the marina with heaters/dehumidifies and a full waterline cover or its going up to Lake Stevens in a warehouse with a concrete floor.

I heard that somewhere near Lake Stevens that someone is building a new facility with possible heated enclosed storage for RV/Boats. I dont know the particulars but will find out and let you know. I will store there most likley cuz I do go to Stevens often.
