Yea, We used to do that back in the '70's at my neighbors place.... I wasn't much good - but a couple of guys kicked it !

we did that too, back in the 80s once or twice. the board was too slippery. my bud didn't bring back any wax along with the board (dont ask why a WI boy would buy a board in florida and bring it home). all we knew was we needed wax. so we whipped out some old candles and ran them like crayons all over the top !!!!! hahahaha
once we got behind the boat, we found there was not a lot to do, but it sure got a LOT of attention.

Friend of ours on the lake had a board and I did it behind my Dads MarkTwain along time ago, it could put up a heck of a wake when the i/o was trimmed back! Nothin like "peasons" website though!!!

4 of us streaked the lake on surfboards in the 70's, Not 4 on one board, there might have been beverages involved that afternoon I can't remember.

Yup, when I tried to get up (notice "tried"). The hardest part was the pulling up to the knees with the wax/ jacket/ knees.. (dang that wax is sticky) Oh and the balance/ actually standing/ water up nose... etc... He just catches a groove and holds on one handed... Believe it or not he did get a little air crossing the wake 6" to 12" each time.. Just looked like he was having a lot of fun...

Yea, we were watching a guy the other day wakesurfing..... they pitched him a bud light - he was just talking and drinking with his buddy...
I figured then I might have to learn that sport....

We end up surfing all the time. Although its a blast to be able to throw the rope, its also a lot of fun to tight rope it. It might not be the safest thing, but at this point we switch riders without slowing down. The rider just surfs up to the swim platform by pulling the rope, then once the tip of the board is over the swim platform he/she just steps on the tip then onto the boat. Next rider does the opposite and slowly lets the rope out and he is surfing.
I think one of the best things about having a boat is the ability to be creative. Have fun, try screwball different things. Ever use your wakesurf board 85' back and cut into the wake?
Grab a wakeskate and have ridiculous crash contests. Hit the wake like a wakeboard at a slow speed and see who can do the biggest flips, etc.
We have a few of those little mini surf boards you buy for ten bucks in Florida. Use one as a wakeskate or mini surf board for kids. Just try goofy stuff, the best days ever on the water are when we were doing something unorthodox and silly.

Great fun and very easy! I fill my starboard ballast and 3/4 of my front tank. Have all passengers sit on starbaord side. We can get a 2'-3' wake at 8-11 MPH. Use a short 15' rope off the tower to help give the beginning rider additional lift. Have rider pull themselves into to "sweet spot" where they will feel the wake moving them without pulling on the rope. Suggest keeping rope until rider masters riding in the "sweet spot". Hours of fun that anybody can master, enjoy!

don't mean to put you down but that is the dumbest thing i've heard unless you are using the rope really far back like those first pics. i would never attempt wakesurfing on anything but an I/O. we get up about 5-10 feet off the boat and throw the rope in after comfortable. they make actual wake surfboards so you don't use the huge real surfboards. mine's a hyperlite 5'6" broadcast and is awesome. been doing walkon's and walkoff's and finally started carving. gonna try some 180's and 360's soon.

I think you meant DON'T TRY WAKESURFING BEHIND AN I/O! You could fall into the outdrive and become hamburger!
Only try it behind a v-drive or direct drive boat. Stay safe!

One tip i was given was to put my front foot a bit off center towards the wake. This will put more weight on the inside edge. It helped me.

We do a lot of surfing because it gets windy after 10:00 when we go to Laughlin
I like to surf on a 65 rope at 8 to 11 MPH. Full ballast off the tower; you can find a surfboard at a Garage sale
For $10 to $75
For wakesurfing I have a CWB 53 Ride full ballast 11 to 12 MPH
This web sight is very good to teach you how to www.howtowakesurf.com (http://www.howtowakesurf.com/)
I do need to tell you do not click on the Scull and Cross Bones it is photos of

Take two boats and run them parrell to each other. Take a full line and surf board out to where the wakes converge and surf it. I was told you can surf that wave easier than surfing right behind the boat. Anyone ever see that or do it?

As I said it was a long time ago and even back then I knew props turning under water can hurt if you fall into it so I was, the best I can remember now, back probably 8-10 feet where the wake crested holding on to the rope till I could go on my own which didn't last very long. Also it was a fairly long board I think around 8 feet.

I'm going to try again over the weekend.. Thanks for all the advice:D If I'm the least bit successful I'll post the pics. Looks like it's a lot of fun:D Won't be trying the BL thing as 7am is too early to start!! Which is better to all the folks who do this dropping in off the platform, or starting in the H20??

I showed that trick to Skidog @ CSM, with our '89 PS190 and his X-30. We had a 4' high roostertail at about 14 mph, with the 2 boats about 6' apart that I have never seen produced behind any type of Wakeboard boat so far and it's clean air back there too!
