i cant take it anymore. i can barely make it through my set without my feet hurting so bad i rip my ski off in panic. ive tried large bindings but i ski better with meduims. ive been thinking about switching to hard shells, but ive never had a chance to try them. do guys think they will help? i would hate to buy them and have them not help out.

My Fluid Motions are as comfortable as my shoes. Heat moldable liners conform to your feet exactly. Performance and safety are a big bonus.

Have you thought about giving Wiley's a try. I don't get any of the soreness I used to occasionally get with both the animals and the approach boots. You can get varying degrees of stiffness around the ankle and will be able to put them on and go. Replacement parts, if you can rip 'em up, are always available.
You won't find any shortage of people on there who love their hardshells. Just figured I'd throw in a plug for rubber before they all have you spending the big bucks. I don't doubt boots like Fluid Motion are very comfortable.
The setup looked as if it would give me a headache during the precious little time I have to be on the water quite honestly. Definitely worth checking out though. www.jagersports.com.
I think the hardshell technology has nowhere to go but up though. Everything from ease of installation to consistency of release will no doubt improve and prices will fall. Somewhere between then and now, I may have to give it a try.

You can demo fluid motion boots. You can't demo Wileys. When I asked them about it, the old man just laughed and said when I was ready to buy, he'd sell me some. I get the feeling they don't get too many complaints. I know I love mine and feel like I'm skiing great on them.

Rod, if you were closer I have some brand new Wiley bindings that have never touched water that you could try.

Call up Paul and ask to demo a set. He has a great demo program but be prepared to part with your money because I am 99% sure you won't send them back.
Yes the initial setup is a little bit intense but after you get them set you don't have to do much else. There are a handfull of us on here skiing them and I am sure between Paul's great customer service and us you will be able to get them setup fairly quickly. I switched over about this time last year. Took me about 4 sets to get them dialed in.

One more vote for fluid motions. I've been on mine for three seasons and still think they are great. Paul has been great to work with as well.

Another for fluid motion.
Tools needed, drill, epoxy, body molding tape, screwdriver, caliper, measuring tape.
Once the back plate is set you adjust the front.
I'll recommend the FMX plate for reducing set up though i dont' have one, it means i measure my pin gap alot.
Paul Jager is great to work with on my end as well. 100% recommended by me.
