And if you are, is it board shorts, wet suit, or dry suit?

I haven't been out in over a month now, man I miss it.

KJ, were you able to take advantage of that deal? Hope so......are things still pretty active up on Murray? Are you skiing at Bear Creek, or do you have a secret spot?

The wife has said "enough". She thinks it's too cold, so she'll take me out for one pull a month 'til March or April, when she'll get back in the water.....so on that note, let me know if you need a third.

The nice thing is, I get to work on the boat a little more, since we aren't using it.

See ya soon......

And just so y'all know, the speedo thing was just a joke.

Skied last Friday. You can still leave the drysuit in the truck. Glass conditions. There is nothing like going to the lake to foot and telling the driver to just drive in any direction!

Still skiing on Lake Sammamish near Seattle. Water temperature is 52 degrees F, air temperature typically in the upper 30s at dawn. A dry suit is pretty much required. I fill a cooler with warm water from my shower and warm my feet between sets. I hate that sense, when my feet are freezing, that my toes are folding over onto the top of my foot when sliding into my binders!

I'm hovered in the house shivering if outside temp is under 50 and forget water temps under 70

I got my snow skis out...snow forecasted for this afternoon, maybe i'll get the snowboard out too. Work starts when the resorts open. I want a few days to ski the parks before i have to teach little kids. Uniform...i guess i could ski in a wetsuit...it'd be like a GS Suit...

Skiied weekend before last. Noone on the lake except a few fishermen.
Everyone here thinks that it's way too cold when the air temps are only in the 70's. Even thins out quite a bit when it drops to the 80's.
Snowmobiled this past weekend up in the mtns. Maybe go to the lake again this weekend?

I just bought my lift tickets for March. There have been plenty of opportunities for me to ski since I winterized about 3 weeks ago. However, there haven't been too many opportunities to winterize and it was slated to freeze over t-giving.

erkohler,

Are you going ridin' Up North over the holidays?
We are heading back to my mom's in Park Falls for 2 wks. Will be riding with my f.i.b buddies for a few days over New Years. Have a place rented between Park Falls and Mercer. Hopefully will be riding in that area. They are just now getting some snow that's gonna stay around in that area.
I'm still up in the air on getting machines to ride for the trip. Can't handle a 4500mi rnd trip driving to bring my own machines. If you know anyone, or businesses that'd cut me a deal on 2 sleds for 3-5days (depending on price), please let me know.

Hey Scott88, what's the haps in Grayslake these days?

Hey Thrall!...gonna go on the course for the last time tommorow...gonna sink it before the ice comes in and takes it for a ride ...its snowing right now...time for barefooting on the river....no boats!

Thrall,

They have an 8-10 inch base on the snowmobile trails up in Hurley, and they are going to open tomorrow.

I don't usually go up that far north, our resort is in St. Germain which is about an hour south of the mercer area.

check out www.johndee.com you could probably post on there and find out where would be the best place to rent sleds. Over the holidays, it isn't cheap though.

erkoehler
11-30-2004, 08:24 PM
Rockman,

The walk is usually right in that neighborhood of dates. Seems so far away, and yet it will be here so quick. Hoping to have my boat by then and be able to bring it out for the event.

Is there somewhere I need to sign up in order to bring the boat/ski? I am already registered for the walk, and they already have sent many things regarding donations.

Thrall
11-30-2004, 08:30 PM
er, Yeah, they're killin' me on the rentals. It's hard to swallow paying $150/160/day/sled for a fan cooled somthinorother when my piped 800 is sitting in the garage collecting dust. Got a line on 1 sled that has been passed down from me to a friend to another guy. If I get that one, I'll only have to rent one.
There's NOAA website that posts up to date maps of snowpack nationwide, www.nohrsc.noaa.gov/interactive/html/map/html, don't know how to post the link. It's awesome. I checked the area we were riding last weekend and it was right on the money w/ snow depths. Check it out.

The weather here in central NC has been unbelievable; it's been in the upper 60's and low 70's for the past week or so. The weather forecast for Sunday and Monday is a high of 76 and 77 degrees. This is about 30-40 degrees above normal; I'm sure the ski resorts are hating it, but it sure has been nice. Too bad the boat's been winterized already (and I don't want to burn any of my precious little vacation this early in the year).
