I have been having trouble with my PP holding speed - 2003 X9 wakeboard pro. When in mph mode, the indicated speed varies from spot on (compared to manual speedo) to 3-4 mph over. So the PP makes the adjustments and it is all over the place, usually slow.
When I flip over to rpm mode, it will hold an rpm fine and the indicated mph on the pp reads very closley to the manual speedo.
Any ideas?

You need to start with making sure that there is no gap between the throttle cable end and the brass nut on the throttle arm.

Then you need to do the Linkage test and Servo test (http://mccollister.info/PPlinkagetest.pdf) described in the manual. Those things are all easy to do. If that stuff doesn't help, call Perfect Pass - they're very helpful.

You need to change the "NN" and "KDW" settings...how much weight are you running and what engine? With the system you have I find a NN setting of 55-65 best, as to KDW I need to know weight and engine.

Try a KDW of 650 to 700.

I have a 2006 X2 with the 310hp motor and having a problem with it being set on 22mph and then it drops to 17mph and then surges back to 22? Usually 4 to 5 adults in the boat at a time. Any idea of what the settings should be in Wakeboard mode?
It could be a CS value issue. The CS value determines the amount of overshoot and can cause the boat to "lock in" on the speed then slow down and surge back...this indicates that the CS value is too low.

Other sources of this type problem can be breaks in the paddle wheel wiring or module failures.

Could be a hardware problem. I had the same issue with mine and called PP. They sent me a wire patch with a capacitor or something that you plug in between your PP control box and the paddlewheel. Mine has been working perfectly since.
