Anyone have any idea what a cable park like in Orlando might cost to build?? if you have a body of water in mind, I say 1 million gets you a cable system installed and then a mill for construction and another mill for startup...
am I close??? What do I win?

Take your durango, remove the tire from the wheel, wrap the loop around the rim and you are on the way.

Durango, 40k, rope and hardware 10k, 10 telephone poles 5k each 50k, operator gets free passes when off duty. I think for 100k you should be set. Those Texas oil millionaires, I think Ric is porking the bid!

If you have a Farmers Market Bulletin or some other type of agricultural publication with classified ads, you can get telephone poles way cheaper thank 5K. Like if you come get them, you can have them.

Just an option.

Just took 50K out of the equation

What you really need it to find a ski resort that has gone out of business and buy the chair lift.

Nothing up my sleeve but my arm. Just researching as I think we have a prospective investor in such an endeavour. Just trying to get in on the ground floor of the opportunity. ;)

Lakey, you are so resourceful. I like that telephone pole idea. Just like the DOT, they throw away all those perfectly good orange barrels everyday....;)

Searchmont Canada has a ski lift operation that went out of business. Nothing but an abandoned grassy hill last September when I was up there. It was fun to rip it up on the KTM though..braaap!!!

With a ski lift you can get the poles as well, might be a bit much for a cable lake.

later on when i get out of college and get more experience i had always thought of trying to get a cable park/ski ranch built with a couple of wave generators and maybe a skate park to reach out to everyone and make some freaking money but man would i have to find some deep pocket investors.

Allright, buddy...I had a slow morning, so I did some diggin' and found a short answer:

How much does a cable system cost?

Recently, the prices are around US$250,000 to buy the cable system and have an installer available to help put it in. There are several other costs involved, such as the concrete anchors, and the starting dock. Generally, building a cable park will cost between US$500,000 and 5 million depending on many factors. It may be possible to build one for slightly less than US$500,000 but if you can do it, please let us know how.

Second, I found two companies (both German) who make the equipment:

Rixen (http://www.rixen-seilbahnen.de/)

Sesitec (http://www.sesitec.de/)

I've also downloaded a cost estimate summary that they did for another customer that details the equipment, etc. I can't attach the word document, so if you want it, PM me your E-Mail address and I'll send it to ya'.

Good Luck!

There must be some more experts on these things around..... Below link talks about a new cable park in MI, and a planned one here in WI ?????

WHAT?? Cable park / tournament lake and Mastercraft Museum at Pleasant Prairie in WI ??? Have heard nothing about it, is that just drunken speculation ????? I was at the Wakeboard Natls last wknd, and the lake is sweet, but unprotected from wind.

I think I gotta throw this on the in your area thread.....

Combine that with a wave making machine and I think you're onto something. Toobin ain't no fun unless you got some monster wakes to fly off of... And maybe it will keep some toobers off the lakes!
