So I get the new Wakeboarding mag and I'm flipping through it and see this new company Ronix, headed by Herb and Paul O'brien. So I decide to check out the website, it would appear that Parks, Harf,Sharpe and Emily Copeland Durham all are now team riders. Has anyone else seen this? Anybody know where these boards are sold? Whats your thoughts on them all leaving Hyperlite? I can't wait to see some of these pro models. :D

Ronix boards aren't for sale yet, as of now, it looks like late fall.

They have an AWESOME team for pro riders, and it should be great next summer :)

We are working with Ronix right now to try to become an authorized dealer:D

I heard the same thing from a local board shop here in Minnesota. They too are impressed with the direction these boards are going. Should be interesting to see them take on Hyperlite.

I watched their video's on the site. It looks like an exciting direction. Can't wait to see what comes out of it.

I can't wait to see the boards live and in person. I am sure that they will be giving Hyperlite a run for the money.

Well I'll take the other side of this coin...given that the cast of players has not changed from the group that went bankrupt 3 other times I doubt the outcome will change. Herb O'Brien is a visionary...no doubt about it. Paul O'Brien is...well…lucky his dad owns the company otherwise he would be asking "would like fries with that?"

Does the world really need another wakeboard company? Is there actually a need to be filled?

Bob Archer (owner of HO/Hyperlite...and almost everyone else) is no fool and has made a LOT of money in this industry over the years. He has hired some of the best people money can buy (Tim Joyce for one) and treats the athletes, dealers and vendors with the utmost respect. I'll take any bet that Ronix or Radar is going to "give HO/Hyperlite a run for the money".

How does that old saying go? “Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me”...time will tell.

Competition is good!

However, where will they be made? China? India? Taiwan? Couldn't possibly be the good ol' US of A...could it?

Nope, China.

Competition is great; however, so is being profitable.

Nice point of view. I HOPE they are made in the USA. I just compare LF to Hyperlite and their are differences yes, but LF is so much more affordable. I wasn't sure about the whole bankrupcy thing but I heard something years ago and was unsure. Look at Gator boards, they seem to be going good, well I mean they are still around so there must be a market for them. I would also like to see these in person as well. :)

Yes it is, but I wonder if you would you change your tune if MC announced that our beloved boats were now to be made in Mexico? ;)

From a profit standpoint you could care less where its made, who it employs or unemploys. When it comes down to it its about the bean counters and profit and loss, nothg else matters in corporate america. That's why I bypass the big box stores and buy my goods whenever I can from a guy who rests his head in the same city I do.

/off soap box / threadjack over.

Ronix boards huh? Hell I can't ride the Parks I have, why would I want a better tomato?

Well lets just say I've changed my mind over less...photo shoots for instance. And to be honest that has nothing to do with profits...if the new guys can't make money (as they have proven they couldn't MANY times before) they will end up right back where they were a year ago...only I doubt Mr. Archer will be offering the silk parachute this time.

LOL...how about for the shine and you'll look cool with it hanging on the racks. Get a red and white board and it'll be even sweeter. 8p

I had heard...and this could be wrong, so please correct me:
HO and Hyperlite will soon be sold in every SAMA Club and WalMart out there. If this is true, it is going to kill the true "Pro Shop" market that many dealers have, simply because of the volume pricing they will be able to put in place. So, I would think that a company like Radar and Ronix would be trying to deal solely with "Pro Shops" to give their product a bit more prestige and high end appeal.

From what I heard on the street, is that they are going to very exclusive with there dealers. Something like only a 100 or so for the first year. But hey what do I know.
