Haven't seen or heard much lately about the new CSX model. Is it going to happen or has MC decided to scrap it??

That's a good question. I would really like to see one.

The thought of a wakeboard / fishing pole tower is interesting...

Yes the CSX is real and it should be available to the boating community this year. As for pictures, we have just returned from the Bahamas photoshoot where we shot the boat (and the other saltwater boats) and do not have any of the images back yet. Once they are available, we will let you guys see them.

Also, we have let several people test drive the prototypes (dealers, management, sales reps, athletes, etc.) and overall the boat is receiving rave reviews. There are some tweaks that need to be made thanks to all the great feedback we have received. Nonetheless, the enthusiasm around the CSX is incredible - it just takes time to be an innovator and leader.

Thanks and stay tuned...

J

The salt water shoot wrapped up a couple of weeks ago so there are no shots to show...yet. And before you ask no, Maeghan wasn't included in that shoot either.

Or you could just read the post above mine...he must type faster.

That boat is real too! It is still in prototype phase - in other words a lot of people are skiing behind it (including our pro athletes) - so there are no pictures per say. I may be able to snap some of the prototype if that helps...

Add another as patiently waiting for the release of the CSX. I was watching some boating show on Sunshine Network and they were at the Miami boat show, a segment was done on the un-veiling of the CSX..I applaud MC for looking at this segment in the industry and believe it will be sucessful. I will be looking.....

As far as the Bahama shoot......Did they "boat" or transport the boats across the Gulf-Stream, the answer to this question could tell alot about the boats...I know Ft.Lauderdale to Bimini is less the 50 miles.....

Given that there are more things that I would like to do with my boat than I do currently I think this thing is a great idea. I would be lined up to take a look as soon as I could. So long as I could get it in different colors.

Any idea on the price range?

All the salt water boats went over on there own bottoms, none were shipped.

I agree about being a true blue water boat. Looking at the cutout platform and low profile more of a bay or intercoastal boat. Problem down here in FL is the intercoastal is BUSY and narrow....And if thats not enough the damn manatee zones will get ya. It would be an excellent Keys boat......I think that portion of the rewind video was filmed on the outside while wakeboarding. We go from Ft. Lauderdale to Marathon and back on the inside, most of the time its like boating on a lake.

Pricing has not been announced yet; however, the plan is for it to be price pointed under comparable outboard equipped boats. Based on X-Star and 230 pricing I would say that $60K is short.

MYMC.....that is very interesting that they went over on their own power....I am assuming they went to Bimini and then jumped to the shoot (Paradise Island maybe). What is even more surpising is the X-Star......I assume patience and prudence on the crossings. Add a BIG check for the CSX.

Just to Clarify...ALL THE SS BOATS WENT TO THE BAHAMAS ON THEIR OWN BOTTOMS! It was done to prove a point...that they could! They are not too low to the water...I've driven them, trust me on this.

Further they are not meant for "blue water"...50' (and bigger) Vikings are, so if you are planning that Marlin trip to Costa Rica this probably isn't the best choice.

I agree about "blue water", as any salt water boater knows rule #1 is to know the limit of your vessel and pay close attn to the conditions. There are many 22-24 CC boats in not just the IC but off shore as well. The gulf and Atlantic can lay down and conditions are ideal. I miss the security of a direct drive....I like our Cobalt currently but the whole I/O thing is hard to get used too. Not from the point of handling moreso the mechanical concerns..

So, how does the boat "ride"....more specifically does is slam or is the deadrise enough to allow a softer re-entry.

That is hard to say right now - I know the current time frame in terms of when it should be released but as can be expected, our obsession to make it right will take priority so if any of the tests show it is less than what we demand of our product, we will take the time to make it right. I was in the bahamas right before they did the photoshoot and my friend was there during. It was at Treasure Cay in the Abacos. I have some pictures, but not of the csx, I'll post them later. First thing is the boats did NOT go on their own bottom. They had arrived on a barge and were shrink wrapped. Maybe they went to Bimini or something on their own bottom but definately not to the Abacos. I go every year on my dads Bertram which cruises at 34 knots and it takes about 8 hrs, none of those boats would have the gas to make it their. Not to mention the waves get huge and it would be suicidal. I have an 06 x2 and love mastercraft but you can't drive one to the bahamas, trust me if you could I'd be the first to do it. Either way that CSX is sweet and would be amazing for the bay. If it throws a wakeboarding wake as good as my x2 i might consider trading for one of those.

Yeah, I was wondering about that because I actually bought the '07 X-Star Saltwater Series photoshoot boat and the tongue of the trailer was damaged and the dealer said it happened during transit on its way to the Bahamas on the barge/ship it was being carried on. If the weather is good, the ocean can be as calm as your lake. I've been 50 miles out on the Gulf of Mexico in a 26' cuddy cabin boat, and I regularly take my 17' skiff 3-5 miles out on a nice day - I even see pontoon boats out there. But, I understand the Gulf Stream, which lies between FL and the Bahamas can get pretty rough even on nice days (though I've never crossed it on anything smaller than a cruise ship).

Yes, you should make doubly sure. My great uncle actually drowned 150 feet from shore on Lake Michigan many years ago. He was fishing in a small boat and a storm came up. They tried to head straight for shore but did not make it, they took a wave over the stern and went down. Two went in the water and one came out, my great uncles buddy made it, my great uncle did not.:(

The red CSX was in Tampa for the boat show last weekend, they said they were going to do a photo shoot here but never heard if they got it done. The boat looks great but in an area loaded with center consoles from flats boats, deep vee's to go-fast open fishermen, all equipped with outboards, I'm not too sure how it will do. One cool thing was the aluminum trailer it was sitting on, the main rails were big aluminum I-beams with all of the cross members in galvanized steel. Would have loved to have the option of that trailer when we bought our SS X-Star.

I got to see 4 pics of the CSX at my dealer saturday. One with the hard top and one with a tower. The others were interior shots. From what I saw, it's a sharp boat and with the tower option , is good for grandpa to fish with and board/ski when the grandkids show up! Kudos to the MC design team for good use of versitility!
