I have a 1990 mastercraft tristar 220 with a 454. How can I tell if it has the 1.5:1 power slot transmission or the 1:1 direct drive? Do they look any different?

Hey brian0074, new here myself, but if you look under the FAQ questions and check the one that goes through the serial number it will spell out most everything about the engine, trans, etc... I have no idea how to tell you the difference in appearance. Hope that helps!

sorry about that after so quickly replying I looked myself to make sure I was telling you right. Wrong. Lookthrough general discussion for a post originated by east tx skier titled FAQ. and look for the SN post.

The transmission on my 1990 PS190 has a metal tag/label right on top of it that gives the gear ratio --> 1.52:1. Maybe yours has a similar label?

Checking your prop is the easiest way. If it is a 13/13 or 14/13 or there abouts it should be a 1/1. If it is a 13/18 or 14/18 you would have a powerslot. Post what your prop size is and someone should give you an educated guess.
