View Full Version : blower motor squeals

Probably a commonly asked question, but the search engine didn't help. My new to me 88PS190 produces a squeal when I turn on the blower motor. It's the inline type. My plan is to diassemble it and search for ways of servicing it (like lubricating the rotor shaft bearings). My questions, are these serviceable at all, or should I just plan on ordering a replacement now? Any tricks out there to fixing this?

In my opinion, I'd just replace it. Part is about $15-20 and will take you less than 10 min to swap it out, its REALLY easy to do. I had the same problem on my boat and tried the lubricant without any success. I saved a few dollars by buying on ebay as I wasn't in a big hurry to get it in the boat since the old one still worked...just really annoying.

Cheap and easy to replace.
The fan is off of the drive. Look inside and push on the fan. Sometimes they come off. It probably won't stay on for the long haul but that is your problem. Been there done that.
