Went Shortline footin' for my first time this evening!!! WAY COOL!! Next to the slalom I know what I intend to do alot of!!

My first try I didn't realize I had to dig my shoulders and head in to avoid from bouncing across the water while accelarating. I tried to stand up when we got to speed but bounced up instead and ate sh** real quick. I felt my eye lids get peeled back. When I came too I was seeing white shiny spots, but the funny thing was I was laughing!! It was FUN!!

Next try I got right up and was in the 3 point position. Gave it another shot and got right into position and went several hundred yards.

Footin is FUN!!!!

Wish I did! Had dinner with ski friends who live on the lake. the rain paused for a few minutes so we went out. No camera or anything, did my thing and as I made my last run it started pouring........:( I'll go again this weekend for sure.

Just fine. I do have some slight pain in the muscles in that vicinity but it is very tolerable, more just aches at this point.

How long you think until I am fully healed?

Fully healed.....February. Your going to need to lay off the skiing for a bit to be 100%.

Seriously; footing is more addictive than anything. Everything that you do takes it up a step; tumble turns, back step offs or one footing just amplifies it. Welcome to the jungle.

Good job JR!

Now figure out what you want to learn at MM 2.76 and we'll get ya up to speed (literally :D ).

Keep your toes up and knees bent in a little and practice good posture. That will really help gaining some comfort and also confidence.

Look forward to doing some doubles with you soon!

Welcome to the club, JRandol. As you are finding out, it's very, very addictive. I have a brand new slalom from 2001 thats hardly ever been used because that is when I discovered this sport. Pretty soon you'll be saying - no skis in my boat........ Good luck and don't be frustrated. The learning curve takes some time.

Top ten things you'll never hear from a footer - (If I remember from Waterski magazine:

1) Hand me my slalom ski, the waters glass.
2) Yes, it hurts my feet
3) Those dudes on the PWC can really rip
4) Hand your girlfriend a towell, she looks cold
5) Does this wetsuit make by butt look big
5) Put away the camera, he's never done this before
etc, etc, etc, I can't remenber the rest.

Now the you foot, if you ever get back to your roots in Colorado, send me a PM.

Nice work JR!!! i learned to foot last year about this time, and i've had the fever ever since, heck i've never even set a single foot into a ski! Listen to rockman, he's a wealth of knowledge. Even though he won't let you back into the boat when you're trying to learn, you'll be thanking him later. Looking foward to footin' with you at MM!
