My wife has a 1999 Ford Exploder, purchased in Jan. 1, 1999 and in the first 6 mos of ownership there were 5 recalls, cruise control cable, seatbelt bolt, seat bolt, hood latch and windshield wiper mechanism. Told the salesman and the service writer, I wish they had finished designing and building it before they shipped it, they didn't think it was funny!

I'm also waiting for the cruise repair. Any wonder the FMC has got an image problem. F series truck sales are down 14% year to date. Da.:(

I've gotten the letter about my 2004 but hadn't taken it in. Kept hoping it WOULD burn.... ;-P (Only has 225k on it)

Oh I got the letter to take it in. They disconnected the cruise control and wrapped the connections with electrical tape. I'm just waiting on the call I expected in February for the part that fixes the problem.

I saw that Doug and though of you. I don't know if these people went ahead of you or behind you. From the other thread, I think you better start icing down a cooler of beer!

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Ford Motor Co. is recalling 1.2 million large pick-up trucks, SUVs and vans because of a problem with the vehicles' cruise control system that could lead to a fire.

Actually, I finally broke down and had to go investigating on my own. Dealer said they have the part and to just bring it in and they'd throw it together in a couple of minutes.

No beer though.

Diesel-powered vehicles are not affected
Makes sense, why would I buy anything but a Diesel from them....

I wonder how long the replacement parts will take to get here if they are being made overseas.....Probably pretty expensive to ship all those parts...8p

Well, we would love to bring it in for the recall but our explorer is not working right now. After spending $900.00 to rebuild the tranfer case, broke down in five months. New tranfer case was installed for another $1500.00. Engine stop running after three months of new transfercase. Was quoted another $3500.00 for engine replacement. Well, I guess car is made to be broken. I wish my explorer would last longer than our monthly payment. :D I also wish my 197 prostar could be driven on road. I do have one question. How come we don't have recall for boat ? Those I don't wish to have one.

There have been recalls. On our '89 PS190, we got one about 4 mos. after purchase. Some new transom eyes MC was installing were longer than what they had been using and they could rub holes in the gas tank. It said call for a appointment at my dealer and take it in to be checked. Ours was OK!:D

Ford is having to recall their vehicles? I was under the impression they were perfect  Must be a domestic part made in Canada or Mexico.
