We are looking at purchasing a 1990 to 1994 mastercraft, not settled on what type yet, but was wondering can anyone offer an opinion on how the wake is on an older boat. I have kids who have boarded a couple of years and wanted to update to a mastercraft boat and was seeing if an older boat had a decent wake.

The hull changed on the Prostar 190 in 1991 and remined the same until 1994. These hulls are often touted as among the best slalom wakes MasterCraft has produced. There is a thread called "Show off your Wake" with wake pictures. I think you'll find that most wakes are impressive regardless of year. No matter what you get, don't buy it until you drive it/ski behind it.

have a 1992 190 power slot the 91/93 eas a very good wake, and even better if you use a 4 blade prop

Man, power slot and a four blade. That must really jerk your arms out of the socket.

I have a '92 Prostar 205 w/ 3 blade prop, it has a very nice wake I would highly recommend early 90s MC if you find one in good shape.

I also have a '92 205 and a 3-blade.
The slalom wake is awesome but if the kids want big air for boarding you may want to add some ballast.

We use a Fat-Sac, filled about 2/3, between the rear seat and back of the motor cover.
In addition, we put 2 waterbed tubes in the ski locker to level the boat.

Currently we fill/empty manually with the atwood 12v pump in about 7-8 min.

When doing about 2100 rpm the wake has a very nice ramp shape, not dished out like those of most I/O boats.

Check out the fly-high equipment if you are looking for an extended pylon, they are a bit more expensive than others but the quality and materials are excellent.
