What yrs. did MC make the Barefoot boats. I know about the early 90's, but didn't I see some 96' to 98' open bows w/outboards??

They made the outboard starting around 79-80 era, maybe a year or 2 earlier.

Here is a picture of a 98 PowerStar from another thread.

I could be wrong, but I don't think they made them with an open bow until the powerstar (pictured).

You are right on Doug....Powerstar was the only version with an open bow. Powerstar was made in 97-98 only. Prior to that the BF 200 was available from 91-96. MC made the Prostar 200 in the late 80's and a jump boat with an outboard in the late 70's and early 80's.

We had one in a show in 91. Closed bow but it was fun to drive and ski!

PowerStar's are hard to find.....barefoot 200's are hard to find in good condition.

Brad, just stick with the gorgeous boat you got. You get this problem licked, and I'll bet that's the last one.

In the 80s they made inboard barefoot models that had the powerslot transmission hooked up to a 454 chevy or if you preffered a 460 Ford. at first you could tell them from the regular slalom boats by the rear vent on the engine cover, but soon this vent was standard on all MC's

They made a full size outboard in 1979 and 1980. I have one for sale on ebay right now. They also made sterndrives in these years... I think the ProStar 200 was the next outboard in 86 or 87 and then the Barefoot200 in 1990 maybe?

Hey guys, first time writing on a post. Love all the advice and help. I live in Ottawa, Canada and own a 1990 Prostar with a 225hp outboard Johnson. I have been looking for an outboard Mastercraft in and around Ottawa for years. I finally found one last summer. Would love to post pictures and see what you guys think. Amazing boat to slalom behind, zero wake.

How is the tracking on those outboatds through the course? I realize not as good as a DD, but I've never seen one of those outboards in person. Just wondering.

Used to ski off a buddies BF 200 in Charleston. Very versatile and fast. The BF is not equipped with tracking fins. You can definitely pull it around while taking a slalom run. That said, you can trim up the motor for wakeboarding, it is lighter, no worries for salt water use (motor wise), more interior room. Then again, not as safe to be around the back, smaller swim platform, etc, etc. Pros and cons...

Like Brieod said, tracking could be better, however I know a guy that skis his in a salt course we have set up out here, and he had tracking fins installed. The boat seriously turns like an inboard... sometimes, if you have the bow trimmed down too hard and crank a turn, it can even catch a hook and really scare you. Recently, he put a limit switch on the trim, that does not allow for the motor to be trimmed in all the way and it has eliminated the potential for the boat to hook. These things are the IDEAL boats for salt use...

Thanks Andyg, the BF is there right now too. I would have a hard time selling it, but cash talks. I would have a hard time believing there is a cleaner one out there with a non-offensive gel scheme that mine has.

Duck,

Mine is almost showroom condition and is all white with only accent colors, non-offensive to say the least.

When I get the motor fixed or the new one put on, we'll have to meet up.
