My buddy with the the X-10 is has been made aware of a Prostar for sale locally, and he's comtemplating buying it. Because, well, I guess everyone needs both an X-10 and a Prostar...

Anyway, he tells me it's a 1992 Prostar 197 with open bow. I don't know much about MasterCraft model history, but I didn't think there was such a beast in 1992.

Any links to MasterCraft model history? Failing that, can any of you guys briefly run down the various Prostar models since 1992?

You are correct that there was no PS197 in 1992. In 1992 MC made both a ProStar 205 with the typical observer's bench seat and an open bow, plus a ProSport 205 with a swivel bucket seat for the observer that could be positioned looking forward or reverse depending on how the boat was being used. The hull was identical on both boats, and there was an open bow on both boats.

Well if its a 92 with an open bow, then its a 205.

If your buddy doesn't buy it and it is in fact a 205, could you get me the contact info on that boat or where he found it? The closest 205 I've found that I would be interested in is in Michigan and I won't have time in the next month to go look at it. I think his X-10 will suit him just fine!;)

We're only a couple hours north of you.

The history in the FAQ is on the 205. Rod has some general Pro Star history on his site. www.6ballsports.com
