I'm going to give you my honest opinion. I think it's a great boat and the blue and silver look great but I would like it much better if it were white instead of black. The white blue and silver would look great.

Bling is more expensive than function. :) Looks the same though. Any performance gains with removing the muffler and going with the tips? Does it work on older boats?

SWEEEET looking boat.....

The ski team I bought my 2004 from just took delivery of their 2007 two weeks ago today......White hull with red main accent and black secondary accent, PPASS, MCX engine....saw it on the trailer after its maiden break-in voyage.....got to look around a bit and kick the tires 8p

I'm mixed on the new style switches....not as clean an appearance and would have a tendancy to catch things on them....only IMHO.

I know that MC won't do it. They also won't do flake on the deck will they? The question is WHY? Its just another color. If I were buying and willing to pay extra why not? I wouldn't want the very bottom (where trailer bunks hit) to be flake but besides that under the main stripe all the way to the chine would look awsome.

I'm thinking Canadian blue flake where the silver stripe is on your boat with a Canadian Blue flake deck as well. Whit down the middle and bottom with a red MC logo and Fire Red Flake Stars. Can you say 2008 aniversary boat!

man I cant get into that dark color scheme. way to dark. THe blue is nice, but it needs silver or white top and bottom.

Ya know, in refernce to the seat heater, boats are just like cars, they keep putting more **** on them to go wrong. I am all for keeping things simple. Cars are SO dayum expensive, and they could really get along without alot of those bells and whilstles IMO. all that does is drive up the cost now, and later when the stuff starts to break. I cherry picked a Tahoe for my parents to buy. I made sure it did NOT have all the stuff on it thats gonna cost money later on after warranty. Mom and dad usually love all the bling on thier vehicles, but this time I swayed them away from it. Being in my line of work, I see all the problem stuff. I know what to stay away from. OMG, did I thread jack AGAIN??? Threadjacking is like an addiction for me:uglyhamme

Find a good electrician who doesn't get to work on amps much, but who has great skills. They canl make amps do thing you never thought the amp could and for not much $$. I had a guy tinkering on a 72 Fender Vibrolux Reverb amp for a while. Rewired it and mixed and matched tubes until we were very satisfied. He also isolated the reverb pan so you only got sound going through it and not spring vibration from external sound.

I almost hated to sell it. But I liked my 72 Deluxe Reverb Better and used the proceeds for Perfect Pass.

While I am trying to figure out if I like the new tower or not (just like we all didn't like the new graphics, but now do).....

From a strength or functionality standpoint, what is the difference.

Was the reason for the redesign purely aesthetic, or is it for structural issues as well?

I LOVE the look of the towers on the Xstar with the large aluminum plate, but to be honest wish that the black paint was an option.

Stronger than old towers fewer welds. Also they have easier mounting for acc and are coming pre-wired for lights, speakers etc... The other advantage is the branding of all the boats having similar towers.

Makes sense. I can appreciate the branding issue, that is a good idea. Still don't like it being that bold, but I understand it.

Let me ask you this...

If I order a new X7 from you in 07, and order it without a stereo or speakers, will the boat come pre wired for it?

Will the tower still come prewired as well? Or, is the wiring an option?

If you want mods on a guitar, you can do most of them yourself and there's a book out there with all kinds of circuits for different tone control configurations, pickup switching, etc. Look for it online- IIRC, it was written by Dan Erlewine and someone else, but I can check into it since I was just at a local shop asking about adding a capacitor to my vol control so I don't lose the highs when I turn the volume control down. The mod they do is in this book. If you want paint scheme changes, either an auto body shop or a cabinetmaker can paint it for you, if you don't want to/aren't able to do it. They'll be able to use the same kind of paints (especially the auto body shop) and they should be able to do some sick stuff to it.

Re: amp mods, there are tons of people out there doing them and if you have a tube amp, Kendrick does "Amp Camps" in different parts of the country, where they teach you what the different circuit mods do, how to do them and you can mod your own amp at this class. You can also send an amp in to them so they can mod it, but you'll need to be able to communicate what you want in a clear way. Or, they can do what they think is best.

I have several books by Dan Erlwine. Great guitar repair guy! I know the volume cap mod your talking about. I never got into moding guitars much. I run USA Jackson Soloists, and they are just like I like em right from the factory so no need to change them. I just set up the action the way I like, and play!:)

One of the coolest amp mods I ever heard was by Splawn amps. Modded Marshalls to nail the George Lynch tone. Freakin amazing! this guy did his homework. Lynch was really doin some funky stuff getting his hands on cool amps int eh 80's and having them modded. This guy nailed it and was too cool!

I really dont need to mod my amps as I am very happy with them now. I am playing a Mesa/Boogie Road King as my main rig, and a Mesa boogie F30 as a practice amp or backup. Great amps, no need for mods. nice features too.

What type of guitars/Amps you play JimN???

Didn't we go through this in the "What do you play" thread?

'89 Strat American Standard (Candy Apple Red), SD Curlee bass and I have a '60s Melody Maker that I did some work on for someone and they moved away, so I'm basically going to hold onto it until I hear that either he doesn't want it, tells me to keep it or I find out that he's no longer with us. I have no idea where he is. I also have a couple of cheapos that I'm going to do some experimants with but they're nothing special. I have a Gallien Krueger 400GT that's just brutally loud and this was a temporary replacement for my '58/'59 Bassman (not a reissue but it is the 5F6A circuit they used for the reissue) that quit on me a long time ago. I used the G-K for a while and in the meantime, I learned what voltages to look for, where and other things about tube amp theory. Voltages were normal, I replaced the rectifier tube and it came back to life. Later, I recapped it, put in new tube sockets and kept all of the old parts. Unfortunately, when I bought it, it was just the chassis since the cabinet was probably destroyed. The chassis has a pretty good ding in it but it works great.

We should probably take this discussion to a new thread.

Do they have a rope launcher yet? I really want to flip a switch and it with real the rope in all by itself and tuck it away in the transom, and flip it the other way and it launches the handle straight out the back. I was hoping that would be available in '07. Maybe '08..... Oh, wait, maybe they want to wait until its available via remote control....

MC doesn't offer it but these guys do. http://www.skireel.com/ You can get it with a remote and all. It mounts to the tower and only requires some wiring for power.

I know this is going to lead to further thread jacking, but NICE on the 58/59 Bassman. Nothing cleaner.

I've got an 89 telecaster (purchased in 96 or so) with a 99 serial number.
We should probably take this discussion to a new thread.

What protocol on the engine systems?

MYMC

MEFI 4 controler with the same program as before, just O2's turned on so the system can go into closed loop.

Just a guess on my part, as we have not even put a battery in this boat yet. Maybe Engine nut will chime is?

Simple ceramic inserts used to burn down excess hydrocarbons...water is introduced down stream so there is no water/cat interaction.
