No matter what the age. To me? Not fun. I would be scared to death to pull anyone under the age of 21 on this thing.

Not sure what that company was thinking when they developed and released it to mkt.

I guess if you pull it at over twice the recommended speed you get what you ask for ...

There is a recall on the kite tube:

I traded mine for this:

Did the Blonde on the left come with the trade?

The tube in those videos is way underinflated.

Those videos are indeed crazy, but looking at the rest of the guys web site indicates the general mindset of these kite tubers - some of the stuff looks like it belongs on "Jackass". Sportsstuff's problem was that they understimated the level of idiocy of many of the people who bought that device.

That looks like fun for the kids....I wish they would make these things a little easier on the eyes though!

Sports Stuff - if you're listening...some people would prefer these blend with the landscape. I'm not suggesting a camo "thrillzone" - just one without the neon. Earth tones of green and brown would be a good start. ;)

Excellent point. One could assume that the video shows the kitetube being pulled at appropriate speeds. Reality is much much different.
Me 15 years ago?.........hell yeah.......pull me at 40MPH......lets see how high I can get!!!!!! If I dump at 30 ft in the air..so much the better.....what a rush!!....lets drink!!!! These guys are doing it for the thrill.

Reminds me of the '05 Rewind DVD where the wakeboarders are going up and over a UHaul truck sitting on dry land.............

Looks like the underinflation caused a lot of unstability......Wonder if adding a tail would work LOL........

The Manta Ray looks like a much better design....I've seen it fly in person and it appears a lot more stable than the Kite Tube.

A buddy of mine has one. 1st time out, & it was a "empty the boat" level accident. He came down real hard. His wife & bud dove in to help him. He was only sore for a couple days - nothing serious. But - it was one of those cases where he came down much faster than gravity would push you.

I wonder if the companies that make the kite tubes will be giving coupons for free caskets and wheel chairs for those who don't return them under the recall.

I doubt it. Most companies don't do that kind of thing.

yea f' that. that's an accident waiting to happen. i've had one friend that had to go the hospital. i've jumped off cliffs at 30+ feet but not fallen upside down going 30+mph at 30+ feet. that crap is just dumb...and i'm 23 saying this. water is just as hard as concrete when you hit that hard.

this is why they are going to be pulled off the market. 35 mph! You only need about 22 (I've heard)

I was planning to put it at the end of the dock and slide into the water. Just enough altitude and speed for me.

It might also be fun to launch the knee board from there too.

[ how do you tow that behind the boat?? ]

Mount that baby on a potoon boat, I always thought it would be fun to put a trampoline on one.

[ water is just as hard as concrete when you hit that hard.]

Bill Muncey who used to drive Atlas Van Lines ( Unlimited Hydroplane Boats ) said in an article in Power Boat Magazine once that water has the density of concrete at 80 mph, that just kinda stuck with me and I never forgot it. But I've had some barefoot face plants at 40 that the water felt real hard too.
