View Full Version : Fly-Hi sling marks on gelcoat

I have been using a Fly High by BI pole for 4 years now, and have just noticed small black marks where the nylon sling sits on top of the gunnels just back from the tip of the bow. The sling definitely has aged, but it doesn't appear to be fraying a great deal.

Do I have it too tight (did tighten up a bit this year in annual maintenance)? Seems like it might rub more if it were NOT tight. Or is it just less "soft" now that it's aged a few years and should be replaced?

Any recommendations on what I can use to rub out those marks? These would be the same kind of thing you would get from the boat cover's tie down straps rubbing.

you may need to wet-sand them depending on how deep they are.

Hopefully not too deep, very small marks. Do you think the sling is too worn? That seems to be the only explanation for the marks just showing up now..... thanks.....
