Check out this article in todayís paper. Funny thing is I have only seen one on Lake Hartwell being pulled by a runabout with a clip-on motor, and they were having trouble flipping the tube over so the riders could get back on top. I donít think the boat would have been fast enough to make it fly.

Corps of Engineers bans tube kites
July 18, 2006

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has ordered a ban on tube kite use on Hartwell, Thurmond and Russell lakes.

The circular, inflatable crafts, which are pulled behind high-speed boats, reportedly lack stability and can become airborne, according to the Corps.

Corps spokesman Billy Birdwell said the ban does not include inner-tubes, rather the 10-foot diameter tube kites are the "ones that are designed to lift off the water."

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has attributed two deaths in 2006 to the tube kites.
