Thought I'd start a thread dedicated to stories and pictures from local tournaments. I have 2 objectives here; 1.) get people aware that there are tourney's every weekend all over the country and you can find them at www.usawaterski.org 2.) share pictures and stories from local tourneys.

here's one of jrandol pondering how he's gonna run the course when he gets home

That is one sweet boat to ski behind. I think the one I skied behind was in the 30#'s. It is on the lake infront of ours. Lots of bells and whistles. I think it will be one of the boats pulling the Nationals since it is located out here in Bakersfield. B

Ok, Now I want to trade up on the new TT. I love the red of mine, but I like the newest one the best. PLUS, I have yet to check out that new '06 rudder and how it handles. anything else new I assume the hull is the same still.

(Ok, I guess this ended up as a thread jack. My bad.)

I've wondered how the Local INT tournaments are run... Do you just get one turn out on the water and you go until you fall or miss and then that's it? I've never skied a tourney or been to one to see how they organize them. Anybody want to give us a run down on how they are run?

Ya, it is run till you fall or miss in the state tourney, some of the slalom only tournaments are modified but the 2 events are one fall. Generally on the slalom, you make a pass at a safe speed/length, then you keep shortening the line (once you hit the 34 or 36 mph depending on age group) till you fall or miss and then you are scored on how many buoys you pass. You get credit for all buoys below your final run. I hope that makes sense, I am sure there are better people here to explain it.

So I see on the INT league website that the speed for Men age 13-34 is 36mph. so you run say 15off at 32mph, 34,36 and then if you make the 36 you run 22 at 36 next? so you stay at the top speed just shorten the rope?

It is just strange how anybody can compete unless they are running into the 32-35off range. I see the division of 4th class 3rd class etc. but lets say I'm running in the 2nd class which is 15off 32mph. "working on a full pass" if you run the pass then they bump you into the next class dont they? say 1st class? so how does anybody win? I suppose one could just run 6 buoys at 32 and then purposly miss the exit gate, and then he might win right? just seems like a tough thing to score fairly.
