View Full Version : X45 prop experience

My new X45 / LQ9 came with 13.7 x 19.5 OJ prop. This gave unacceptable performance. Dealer changed to 13.7 x 17. Performance was a lot better, but not good when slinging tubers around a curve. I'm interested in hearing what other X45 with LQ9 owners are experiencing, and with what size prop. Thanks.

No offense meant....but the X45 is not exactly a great boat to be "slinging tubers". I have an X-Star, and it is an awful tube boat. I don't like to drive it too hard (fast), and it does not exactly do donuts and figure 8's well. I pull tubers behind the Sea-Doo when I have to pull them....usually after a gun is put to my head!:D

I am unsure what performance you are looking for but on my X-45 with the L18 I have the 14.5x22 prop. I tried the 13.7x19.5 but found it limited my cruise speed so I went to the larger pitch. We mostly wakeboard and surf so I am not looking for a lot of hole shot.

Dealer replaced my prop with OJ 14 1/4 x 14 and my problems are over. Lost about 4 mph on the top end, but coming out of the hole is explosive. MC was there to help figure this out.

I put that same prop on my X-Star and am also very happy with the performance. I never run my boat top end, but did check it with the 14 1/4 by 14 OJ and it ran 40 mph and turned about 5200 rpm.

gr8smiles - what engine in your X-Star. My X45 has 6.0 LQ9.
