What would be the cause and solution to a bouncy fuel gauge?

most boats do this. I have seen it more in v-drives because the tank is shallow any movement of the fuel moves the sender.

When our boat is 3/4 full on plane, I can turn right and the gauge goes to full, when I turn left the gauge goes to 1/2. When sitting in the water or idling and some waves approach the gauge will bounce around from 1/2 to full. It's just one of those things that happen.

I have been relying on the lowest reading it gives just to be safe. I guess I will just continue to do so. Thanks!

My fuel gage jumps around so much that it is hard to get a reading - is there a way to make it calm down at all??
