The cylinder that holds the back seat cushion up on the observer's seat is starting to give on my boat. Where can I get a fairly reasonably priced replacement?

I found a similar replacement at NAPA auto parts.

It may not be reasonably priced but your dealer should be able to get you one.

The strut has a name and part number on it...I think SPF hadware or something. Anyway...they have a website and sell the exact fit for around $25 a piece. I bought two for the engine hatch last year.

Ohio, could you tell me what the numbers are on your motor box cylinders? I'm trying to figure out what weight and length to get for mine. Mine doesn't have them at all, so i'm starting from scratch.

Cody, none of my local auto parts stores had the right one when I replaced mine last year. I bought it from my MC dealer for around $12.

The engine cover is SPD-5150-30A and the Storage hatch is SPD-5300-30A

thanks bro! do you have one on each side of the engine cover, or just on one side? that's a 30lb, so i'm just trying to figure out if i can get by with the one.

My 91 ProStar is missing them from the seat back as well as the motor box. Anyone able to locate part numbers or sizes of the cylinders on theirs for the 91?

My 93 205 has two gas shocks on the engine cover and one on the seat back. Sorry, don't have part numbers.

You need two for the engine cover and I also have two under the observer seat.

Ohio, on the 190, does the entire seat base and seat back on the observer seat lift up, or just the back?

I just bought new gas spring lifts for my motor box and storage area under the observer's seat. My boat is a '97 Prostar 205. The original springs were SPD-5300-30A for the motor cover and SPD-5150-30A for the observer's seat (2 each). The replacement parts are the SPD-GSNI-5300-30 and the SPD-GSNI-5150-30. They currently cost $14-15 each, with a $30 min buy...well worth it. The website is: http://www.spdhardware.com/catalog/list.asp?id={FD677C08-6417-4A4C-9551-C52741324413}

Support your local MC dealer, they'll have all these instock or readily available.

Our pricing is similar :0
