I just changed the impeller on my 91 Prostar 190. I also installed a new gasket. It seems to be leaking now but not out of the gasket or cover plate. It seems to be coming from the aft side close to the crankshaft pulley. Anyone else ever seen this?

I noticed water coming from that general area when I changed hoses.. the water was coming out where the outflow hose meets the impeller.. tightend the hose and all was good!

I checked the inlet and outlet hose and neither is leaking.

Looks like you blew a seal... (http://www.mypartypost.com/watchvideo/1311/Monkey_Joke-_Blew_a_Seal)

Some times the effort getting an impeller out and back in will result in cranking too much on the pump off-angle, which can eccentrically crush the rear pump seal. I've never done it, but reportedly they're pretty easy to replace, depending on how good access to the pump is. I think it would be hard on a V-drive, much easier on a DD.

Very easy to replace. Take out the impeller and dig out the old seal with a pick or small screw driver ( go ahead and ruin the seal, it does not matter).
Put a liitle Vasaline on the new seal (inside and out) and slowly drive it in with a socket that is the same size.

About a 45 minute job. If my directions are not clear or you are confused, PM me you phone number and I can walk you through it.

Mastercraft and the dealers also have the kits with the impeller, cover seal, replacement rear seal, new screws all-in-one package for just a couple $ more than the impeller and cover gasket, www.skidim.com may have that kit too!
