MasterCraft Recipient of Two NMMA Innovation Awards

MasterCraft received two coveted NMMA Innovation Awards at the 2014 Miami International Boat Show for its mold breaking waterski boat, the ProStar and the industry’s only truly customizable surf system, the Gen 2 Surf System. A total of thirteen marine products were honored for innovative achievement by the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) and Boating Writers International (BWI) at the 2014 Miami International Boat Show.

The Innovation Awards, organized by NMMA and judged by BWI, recognize products that best meet the following criteria: Innovative distinction from other products currently being manufactured; benefit to the marine industry and/or consumer; practicality, as well as cost-effectiveness; and availability to the consumer within 60 days of award receipt.
“As judges, every year we debate the idea of innovation amongst many great products,” said Zuzana Prochazka, Innovation Awards judge chair, freelance writer, photographer and current Chair of the BWI New Products Committee. “We look forward to seeing how these
products adapt in the marketplace and advance recreational boating.”

The MasterCraft ProStar, which was submitted in the “Runabout and Fishing Craft to 24 Feet” category, won due to its sundry of innovations like the convertible bow, pioneering storage system for skis and unparalleled flat wakes that serve skiers of all ages and kinds. “MasterCraft’s passion for performance on the water is contagious,” noted judge Alan Wendt, first VP at BWI.

The MasterCraft Gen 2 Surf System also won an 2014 Innovation Award. Submitted in the “”Propulsion Inboard and Outboard “ category, the MasterCraft Gen 2 Surf System edged out the competition by being the only customizable surf system that combines advanced hull design, weight distribution, custom wake shaping devices and onboard software to create a wide range of wake options. “It doesn’t matter how big or small or young or old you are, with this system, Mastercraft gives you the perfect wake,” said Lenny Rudow, senior editor of Dominion Marine Media.
