![]() Malinoski Does It Again! December 07, 2006 With MasterCraft riders, it's never a fluke - heroics and memorable athleticism are always the order of the day. Far fetched? Let’s consider the roster – Parks, Shane, Zane, Andrew, Derek, Jeff and Nick and Julz – all pioneers, all trend setters. But then there is Rusty Malinoski – or as his friends like to call him – “Bonecrusher”. In a span of two months, this powerhouse has smacked down two – count ‘em two – 1080s laying to rest any notion this kid is a flash in the pan. Indeed, Malinoski is the real deal and he has the crème de la crème of trick lists to prove it.
Malinoski is, in fact, the first wakeboarder to ever land a 1080 twice. That's a total of 2,160 degrees of spin for those of you reaching for your calculators. More amazing is that he pulled it off less than two months after he shocked the wakeboarding world with his first 1080. To put that in perspective, mull this over: Parks landed his first 1080 in 1999 and has yet to repeat the feat. The only other rider with a 1080 on record is Danny Harf, who stuck his just weeks before Rusty's first and he hasn't repeated the trick either.
"It was like somebody picked me up, spun me around and gently set me back down," exclaimed Malinoski. "The landing was just like I was doing a blind 180. It just felt effortless!" Effortless? We beg to differ. We know Rusty works his tail off, fiercely training day after day behind his X-Star - so honestly, we think he had it coming to him. And with a guy like Rusty, there will be much more to come so you might want to stay tuned. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
