![]() Rusty Malinoski Lands A 1080 Behind The X-Star!! October 12, 2006 Only a few short weeks after Danny Harf broke the 7 year dry spell and cracked open an official 1080 behind the MasterCraft X-Star, Rusty Malinoski, wakeboarding’s newest star and Harf’s roommate, decided the gauntlet had been thrown. With the trademark raw strength that has earned him the title of “bonecrusher”, Malinoski carved a hard route straight into the monstrous X-Star wake and pulled off a storybook switch toe-side 1080 – a trick that has now only been recorded three times in wakeboarding history.
All the action was caught on tape by Mark Shonka, a well known videographer who was actually out shooting for a Fuel TV show. "He stuck it. He stomped it” said Shonka. “It will be on The Weekly Update with Boost Mobile this Saturday. Check www.fuel.tv for times in your area.” Needless to say, the footage he shot has already been worn out. “I watched the tape like 50 times,” says Malinoski. “I couldn’t believe I hit this trick – I just sat watching it over and over thinking ‘No way I just did that.’ It was insane.”
Malinoski, of course, was assisted by his 2006 MasterCraft X-Star driven by fellow wakeboard celeb Shawn Watson only a mere month after the same X-Star pulled Harf to the same feat. Coincidence? We don’t think so…
So congrats are in order - this time to Rusty and once again to the industry’s best not-so-common denominator, the MasterCraft X-Star! ![]() ![]() ![]() |
