PWST Coming To Michigan This Weekend
June 16, 2008
The MasterCraft Pro Tour is back in Michigan this weekend! See the best slalom skiers in the world battle it out on the beautiful waters of Lake Jepawhit. The action starts on Friday - June 20th and leads up to the finals on Sunday – June 22nd.
This is the second Slalom event in the tour and is being held at Lake Jepawhit in the Gaines Township and is 46 miles east of Lansing and 75 miles north-west of Detroit. The lake is a skiers's Paradise because of its length and glassy conditions. 100-foot-tall maple trees that line Lake Jepawhit's west side practically guarantee year-round glass, and skiers enjoy 24 hours of visibility per day due to the eight refurbished light poles. The lake was dug out of a farmer's cornfield on 40 acres of land eight years ago by owners Jeff and Patti Smith. Locals come out each summer to enjoy the Lake Jepawhit Extreme Slalom and Hyperlite Wakeboard tournaments. You're invited to fly in also. Just use the airstrip that runs along the side of the lake. The nearest city is Fenton and home for the athletes during the event. Its downtown area retains much of its historical look while at the same time including a town square-style shopping plaza nearby. The Shiawassee River also flows over a dam through the park in the centre of town. The park is overlooked by city hall and includes an old-fashioned gazebo and walkway by the river. There are 58 lakes within a 10-mile radius of the city The Event will play host to a number of Bands throughout the competition on two stages, one at either end of the lake. There will also be vendors selling Mastercraft Boats and other watersports equipment. Large crowds are expected.
This awesome event is to be Webcast on Saturday & Sunday by Webcast-TV. Details of this Pro Water Ski Tour can be found here: ProSkiers.com
