Karen Truelove Wins PWST Title!

U.S. water ski athletes Karen Truelove and Jamie Beauchesne won respective titles Sunday at the H2Osmosis Pro Swerve Water Ski Championships at Whitestone Lakes in Talking Rock, Ga.
It was the opening event of the 2008 MasterCraft Pro Water Ski Tour. Beauchesne, of Rocky Pond, N.H., won the men's slalom title, while Truelove, of Winter Garden, Fla., won the women's slalom title. The event featured a head-to-head format.
Beauchesne out-dueled Jonathan Travers of Groveland, Fla., in the men's semifinals, scoring 2 buoys at 41 feet off to Travers' 1-1/2 buoys at 41 feet off. In the other semifinal match-up, Todd Ristorcelli of Orlando, Fla., defeated Terry Winter of Sacramento, Calif., with a score of 4 buoys at 39-1/2 feet off to Winter's 3-1/2 buoys at 39-1/2 feet off.
In the finals, Beauchesne scored 6 buoys at 38 feet off to Ristorcelli's 3-1/2 buoys at 38 feet off.
In the women's event, Truelove defeated Australia's Karina Nowlan in the semifinals with a score of 1-1/2 buoys at 39-1/2 feet off to Nowlan's 1-1/4 buoys at 39-1/2 feet off. In the other semifinal match-up, April Coble-Eller of Lillington, N.C., defeated Australia's Emma Sheers with a score of 2 buoys at 39-1/2 feet off to Sheers' half-buoy at 39-1/2 feet off.
In the finals, Truelove scored 2 buoys at 39-1/2 feet off to Coble-Eller's 1 buoy at 39-1/2 feet off.
